If you ever uttered the words, "English is crazy," then tune and hear Gina Cooke not only dispell that myth, but she will also captivate you with you limitless knowledge about English Orthography. She will also explain why we should teach our kids with dyslexia about the real structure of our langauge.
Gina Cooke is a Ph.D. Candidate in English Studies at Illinois State University and the principal of LEX: Linguist~Educator Exchange, dedicated to bringing language science to the language arts. Cooke received her Master's degree in linguistics from the University of Chicago, where she was a Century Fellow, and she studied literature, languages, and logic at Smith College for her Bachelor's degree. As a linguist in education, she has taught students about language from preschool to grad school, and has consulted in a variety of professional capacities with language, literacy, and educational organizations. Cooke was the founding director of the Children's Dyslexia Center of Peoria; she has trained and certified hundreds of teachers in a nationally accredited structured language education program and has supervised the instruction of hundreds of students receiving free, state--of--the--art clinical interventions. Her research has been presented at state and national conferences, and she has published several manuscripts for the International Dyslexia Association and served on the editorial team for two national academic journals. Her popular TED--Ed videos about how English words work have received hundreds of thousands of hits and have been flipped into classroom lessons in the
U.S. and abroad. Her live and online courses welcome participants from all over the globe, and her deep understanding of English is transforming the field of structured language education in the U.S.

On tonight's episode of Talking in Circles we talk about a high profile crew chief, Slugger Labbe, currently crew chief of Paul Menard's number 27 team, moving up at Richard Childress Racing. Labbe, has had a great deal of success with Menard, including Paul's first Sprint Cup Series win in 2011 at Indianapolis. He moves on to an R&D role with the team, and Justin Alexander will take over for Labbe.
Also, Regan Smith is now back at JR Motorsports for 2015. Smith, a former Sprint Cup Series driver, has spent the last two seasons in the Nationwide Series with JR Motorsports. Is Regan Smith the first chip to fall. Where do the other veteran drivers go now? Elliott Sadler?
Also, veteran Mike Ford will move on from BK Racing and become a crew chief in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Athenian Motorsports, the family owned team for John Wes Townley. Mike Beam used to be the cc there, no word on where he's going.
This week in NASCAR history takes us back to September 30, 1990, when a young and up and coming driver Robby Moroso was tragcially killed in a car accident after the race in North Wilkesboro. Moroso was crowned rookie of the year in 1990, even though he wasn't there to accept the award. We'll talk about the legacy of Robby Moroso and how he helped pave the way for the "young guy."

On tonight's episode of Talking in Circles, Joe Gibbs Racing has announced a new sponsor for both its #19 and number 20 cars in 2015. Stanley/Dewalt joins the fold.
Now that the sponsor has left, that leads to more speculation on who will replace Marcos Ambrose at RPM. RPM's development driver, Corey LaJoie makes his Sprint Cup Series debut this weekend at New Hampshire. Is he now the leading candidate to replace Ambrose, and is he the right man for the job? We're talking about it.
Also, The Motorsports Group, a raceteam currently in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will move to full-time Sprint Cup Series competition next season. What this move means for this organization, and what it means for the future of the Xfinity Series.
