    The Thomas Loop Radio Show on WJJL-1440AM - Sertoma/News/Music - 8/26/2015

    in News

The Thomas Loop Radio Show featured The Sertoma Club of Niagara Falls, NY.  News and Music from area musicians are included during the broadcast.

More about The Sertoma Club of Niagara Falls is here, from the Niagara Gazette - 3/26/2015 -

    By Charles Learn

For more than 102 years, Sertoma — Service to Mankind – has been helping individuals with hearing difficulties.

It was founded on April 11, 1912 by two doctors and a newspaper publisher, William R. Rowe, who enticed Kansas community leaders to get involved in this great endeavor. Now entering the second century, Sertoma community leaders are engaged to improve the quality of life for those suffering from hearing loss.

Sertoma is now an international organization with clubs in Canada and Mexico, again with the primary mission of helping those with hearing problems. Over the last century, almost every large city in the United States has developed a Sertoma Club. Our new motto is to “Help Us To Continue To Celebrate Sound - Don’t Walk In Silence.”

Niagara Falls Sertoma received its first charter in 1954 with John DeSantis as president and Lawrence J Stacy as Secretary. To date, we continue to aid all in need by making donations to the Heart, Love & Soul food pantry, Niagara Hospice, Niagara Cerebral Palsy Foundation, NICAP, the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club and Family and Children services. We also maintain a scholarship fund at Niagara University and continue aiding those with hearing difficulties. If you are in need of any of these services, contact the name listed below.

This year Niagara Falls Sertoma will celebrate its 50-year chicken barbecue on Aug. 23 and all are invited to attend, participate in the activities and help us to earn funding to support our charities. During the year, we also plan to have a pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinner, with dates to be announced later...
