Source of Happiness, featuring Kokomon Clottey

    in Relationships

During the past few weeks we began a conversation on good feelings and bad feelings.  It was very powerful and gave us much food for thought.  We realize that understanding how we feel and why we feel a certain way is very important.  It is very important for us to find ways to sort these feelings out.  A key to sorting our feelings is transparency. Today we ask a deeper question, What is the source of your happiness?

That is we must communicate what we are feeling and why and be able to say what we are feeling and to know that someone is listening to our feelings without judgments or conditions.  Always express your true feelings to the ones who really matter to you, because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but our regrets can last a lifetime. Community & Service: A Path to Happiness

    in Relationships

Service has different meaning for many people. However, true service according to the ancient teachings of wisdom traditions is a path to happiness as well as greatness. Examples of great leaders are, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, Martin Luther King, Jr. Mother Teresa, Princes Diane to name but a few. All these leaders have one thing in common they served and went beyond a call of duty. Conceptually, one does not attained greatness until after one’s death. And sometimes it may take many years before society (people) realized the enormous contribution one has made to uplift the human condition. The challenge is that one cannot take the road to greatness by being of service; it is the other way around, one must take the road of service to be great. The benefits of service:  1. Service connects you to others 2. It helps you to make new friends and contacts 3.  You gain new skills 4.  Be happy find someone and somewhere to serve.  Dr. Martin Luther King said, "Everyone has the power for greatness -- not for fame, but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.”  Service is a matter of devotion and love!  You can share your wisdom on this topic by calling (347) 539-5818.

Embracing Good Feelings & Bad Feelings:  A Path to Happiness

Many times when we are asked about how we feel, we want to only talk about the good feelings and stuff our bad feelings.  We are hear today to talk about the importance of both and that if we can embrace our bad and good feelings we can be on an eternal path to happiness.  Walter Anderson said, Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life.  I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have – life itself.  This is analogous to what A Couse In Miracles state that happiness is a choice we must make.  We are convince that Good Feeling/Bad Feelings are all necessary to help us become who we would like to be, whole beautiful and caring human beings.   You are listening to Happiness Index, on Blog Talk Radio, you can join in and share your wisdom on this topic by calling (347) 539-5818.

Celebrate Life: A Path to Happiness!

    in Relationships

Welcome to Happiness Index.  We have just celebrated the Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas and now we are celebrating the 2nd day of Kwanzaa, Kujichagulia.   We are 5 days from New Year’s Eve, which is also Kokomon’s birthday and 6 days from New Year’s Day. This is truly a time of celebrations.  Are we happy?  Maybe we can be happy if we observe the values that the Kwanzaa Celebrations reminds us of.  There are seven core values for the seven days of Kwanzaa.  Today as we celebrate let us remember "Kujichagulia”, it asks us to define the world in our own image and interest placing indigenous people and culture at the center of our worldview and social reality. There are seven values of Kwanzaa, beginning with yesterday, Umoja which means unity; Kujichagulia, self-determination; Ujimaa, working together; Ujamaa, supporting each other; Nia, purpose; Kuumba, creativity; and Imani, faith.  We can extend this holiday season to every day of the year with Kwanzaa.  We can celebrate through faith by waking up, walking, eating, knowing that the little things is life is what matters most.  It is all in the way we see life.  Celebrate, be happy!  Thank you for joining us in this very important conversation on celebration as a path to happiness.  Call (347) 539-5818 and share your wisdom on this topic.

Celebrate and Be Happy! A Path to Happiness

    in Relationships

Celebrate and Be Happy!  A path to happiness is a choice to be happy.  This is the season of celebrations.  Why do we need to create a season to celebrate when life is a celebration?  When we refer to a celebration we think of a party, social gathering, people coming together, music, food and decoration.  Why do we make it a special gathering?  Is life a special gathering?  We are continuing the theme of celebration, because we are in the season that we celebrate life, the life of Christ, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and the winter solstice.  Why not celebrate every day and every hour?  Oprah Winfrey said, The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.  So you see life is to be celebrated, because it increases as you celebrate.  And Oscar Wilde says, Life is too important to be taken seriously. So let us celebrate, be happy and have fun.  Join the conversation, tune in to A Happiness Index on blog talk radio and call (347) 539-5818.

An Attitude of Gratitude: Path to Happiness

    in Relationships

Welcome to Happiness Index.  We are in the Holiday Season.  Tonight is the first evening of Hanukkah.  As we begin to light the candles to bring light into the darkness of the season, let us at the same time develop an attitude of being grateful for everything and everyone in our life.  Even the things and the people that challenge us, let us remember that they are there to uplift and make us stronger.  Brian Tracy said, Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.  Last week we reminded you that gratitude is a state or quality of being thankful.  Remember that gratitude is also setting the intention of thankfulness and that means that we have tapped into our innate attitude of gratitude and happiness.  An attitude of gratitude will support us in being happy.  Thank you for joining us in this very important conversation on gratitude.  Call (347) 539-5818 and share your wisdom on this topic.
