Power of Perception music with Hijack

    in Motivation

Hi/Jack is: Ron (drums) and Max (vocals and guitar)

The story of Hi/Jack begins with a fateful meeting at a Milwaukee area music venue in early 2014, during a period of time when Max had a stockpile of material he had written since the disbandment of his previous group. The two came together to play a show and rapidly found they had musical chemistry and common influences. These influences include Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and similar classic hard rock legends. By Spring of 2014 the two were already practicing regularly and writing songs as Hi/Jack and quickly began to make a name for themselves due to their high energy show, their skilled musicianship and their unique instrumentation, being a 2-piece hard rock group without a bass player.

2015 saw the release of their debut full length release, titled "No Cover". The self recorded and self produced release "No Cover" was recorded live in the Winter of 2015 and was released just a few months later in Spring of that same year. With the release of "No Cover", Hi/Jack made an even greater effort to get their music to the masses by way of their live show and began to make regular trips down to Illinois and have continued to play shows in their home state of Wisconsin.

Hi/Jack has played at notable venues in Wisconsin such as Franks Power Plant, Quarters and The Up & Under in Milwaukee and The Frequency in Madison. They have also made regular trips down to Chicago to play the Wheaton Flea Market and to support Chicago favorite's One-Eyed Doll.

Hi/Jack is currently working on their forthcoming second release. The yet to be named second release is due out in late Spring of 2016. In addition to the release of their 2nd project, Hi/Jack also has plans to do several radio show appearances.

Lisa Price - Founder, Carol's Daughter

    in Family

MGN Radio welcomes Lisa Price to our show today at 1:30pm EST. Lisa Price is the Keynote speaker for the Dare 2 Aspire Conference on April 8th and 9th in Atlanta, Georgia.

From humble beginnings in her Brooklyn kitchen, Founder of Carol’s Daughter, Inc., Lisa Price transformed her beloved hobby of mixing up fragrances and creams at home into a multi-million dollar beauty empire.

With $100 in cash, her own kitchen, and the simple notion that people should follow their hearts, Lisa started building the collection that would become a beauty revolution. She began by selling her homespun beauty products at flea markets, but then had to set up shop in her living room as demand increased.

In August of 1994, Price officially established Carol's Daughter (the company lovingly named after her mother). Initially starting out with a handful of steady customers, those numbers grew in leaps and bounds as women outside her neighborhood and circle of friends began to take notice. Almost overnight, celebrities became loyal customers. Soon after, those devoted celebrity fans segued into investors; a prominent group comprised of Thalia, Tommy Mottola, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jay-Z, and Mary J. Blige.

Today, Carol's Daughter sells millions of dollars’ worth of haircare and skincare products, selling at CVS, Target, Walgreens and Ulta nationwide. In addition, products continue to be sold on HSN, with Price at the helm on-air. As a culmination to the Carol’s Daughter business trajectory, Price sold her company to L’Oréal in November 2014. However, she remains devoted to the brand, going into the office every day, and continues to play an integral role in the product development process. Visit Carol's Daughter online.

the story of Ruth Lipschits-de-Leeuwe WW2 & holocaust survivor

    in Spirituality

I was born in Haifa, Palestine, in November 1936. Palestine then was a British Mandate. In 1933 my parents got married and immediately emigrated to Palestine. They both were Jewish and very idealistic and part of a Zionistic movement. My father has been a busdriver and musician in the Palestine Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1939 my parents decided to travel – by boat – to the Netherlands to show me to the family. I was 2 ½ years old and I don’t have any memories of Palestine. We have been 8 weeks on a boat. In February 1940 my brother Ruben has been born in Rotterdam; we were living near to our family. The next very dramatic happening in my life was the German bombardment of the city of Rotterdam. For the whole of the Netherlands the real beginning of the Second World War. This I can remember very well. I was completely hysterical. We had to leave Rotterdam and found a short shelter with friends in the center of the country. I remember almost permanently sitting under the table, refusing to eat, being terribly frightened. Then the organization of the Resistance found us a house in Bennekom near the rest of our family in a village were a lot of Jews were accepted to live temporarily. One of my last nice memories before hiding was the visit of my grandmother, arriving in a coach with horses, celebrating our half a year birthday. (I have been born on the birthday of my grandmother). That was the last time I ever saw her and I deeply loved her. After the war my parents found out that she was gassed in concentration camp Auschwitz (15 oktober 1942, 61 years old). About two months later my mother told me that my brother and I were going to stay with a very nice aunt for a while – no, and I didn’t know her. No, we could not take any toys with us.
