The Becky Book Club Talk Live Radio Show features The Life You Want one of hundreds from my Nook Book collecion. The featured segment of The Life You Want is Freezing Thoughts a powerful demonstration of the power of one's mind. Murphy is the young Irish man who works at a slaughterhouse and makes a decision to go into the freezer to get a bite to eat. Murphy like the rest of the crew knows that the door on the freezer is not working. The moment he goes into the freezer to get a bite, the door closed and locked behind him. Murphy immediately panicks, because he knows anyone in it for longer than three hours would freeze--and there he was stuck in the freezer with only a t-shirt on him.
The following morning the boys come to their shift to find Murphy laying there frozen. An autopsy revealed that Murphy had indeed froze to death. The day Murphy died the manger had checked the freezer and seen that it was broken and had it scheduled to be fixed the morning Murphy was found. The night that Murphy froze, the freezer never dropped below room temperature. Murphy believed the freezer would freeze him! Does that mean that YOUR belief have the power to dictate your life. What happens when your belief change?

Are some in the black community playing the blame game when in fact we should be blaming ourselves.
Ferguson and Staten Island incidents prove racism. Brown was far from a model citizen. He pilfered cigars from a convenience store and then bullied the proprietor when he tried to stop him. Then, he and a friend walked down the middle of the street, a stupid and dangerous practice. Officer Wilson asked him to use the sidewalk because of the situation, not because Brown was trolling innocently along while being black as the media would have one believe. Instead of complying, Brown escalated the situation by back-talking. I agree the number of shots fired sounds excessive, but a grand jury after reviewing all the evidence found otherwise. Staten Island, There was excessive force, was not a racial thing either as the victim’s own daughter so stated. Why do we want to make every cop-suspect into a racial event? There is a target on every young black man’s back indeed! Maybe if we didn’t commit crimes out of proportion to other people in society, the police wouldn’t view us with such suspicion. Why don’t we own the fact that some of us need to change our behavior in order to gain respect. Racism does exist but so does the lack of respect for our representation in public.
This story was written on the internet. I thought it pointed out some problems we have in our community. So I took it and made it into how I felt it should have been written. This is the end of the year. The Cool Critics spend their last weekend with you. And like most media, we are talking about some of the hotter subjects that have been in the news, in your face over 2014. You may have a favorite story. It could have been the Bill Cosby transgressions, or young Tamir Rice, where they keep saying MAN WITH A GUN, when it was really a BOY WITH A TOY. I Can't Breathe and the antics that major sports players have shown by wearing T-Shirts that said the same in protest of excessive police behavior. 347-205-9366 is you cell/land line connection.
