Marisa de los Santos, Mary Norris & Charles Finch

    in Books

Don't miss the hour we're spending with two New York Times best-selling novelists and a Common Queen. We'll also give away the books we're featuring, as we talk with:

Marisa de los Santos. Her newly released novel The Precious One tells the story of half-sisters Taisy and Willow, told from their alternating points of view. Brought together by their father, it's a book about family secrets, lost love and dangerous obsession.
Mary Norris. A copy editor at The New Yorker for more than 30 years, her warm and humorous memoir Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen is not so much about a need for perfect grammar, but about a love for words and language.
Charles Finch. His stand-alone novel The Last Enchantments came out in paperback earlier this month. In it, a Yale grad whose work in politics leads to disappointment finds himself caught in a whirlwind of unexpected friendships, and romantic entanglements, that threaten his safe plans.

Hosted by Cindy Wolfe Boynton. Visit the Literary New England blog for more book giveaways, author talk, event information and to listen to past episodes -- book-tatstic updates posted regularly!

Daniel Updike from Northern Runes Radio: 'The Asatru & Ancient Runes'

    in Religion

CLICK HERE TO HEAR THIS PROGRAM UNTIL BLOGTALK RADIO GETS IT'S ACT TOGETHER!

Daniel Updike (aka Wodenson) is an Asatruar and Gothi of Har's Hall Kindred from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Wodenson came to this way of life close to 47 years ago, has been a seminar speaker, and was the originator of 'The Asatru & Ancient Runes' series which launched Har's Hall Kindred in Edmonton. He hosts NRR-Northern Runes Radio, a podcast exploring the Northern European Mythos both religiously, and esoterically. Throughout the program, we'll discuss what it means to live the Asatru way in the 21st century, awakening our ancient awareness. Daniel first clarifies misunderstandings associated with Asatru such as it being a religion. We'll hear about the European folk code of honor, ethics, the 9 noble virtues and the 3 norns. Daniel speaks about our ancestral folk traditions and their view of the 'dead.' Later, we talk about embracing the struggle so our folk can become more. Struggle is an essential part of being alive and progressing. In the second hour, we'll discuss European folk who have forgotten who they are, who have lost connection to the folk soul. Additionally, western fallacies have indoctrinated us to lower the bar. Now we must reverse the decay. Daniel also talks about the ways in which Christianity is in opposition to Asatru, such as teaching unworthiness. We'll discuss the path to becoming more and the battle for the mind and soul of our people. Later, Daniel provides more examples of the Asatru way and how to implement it into our modern lives. He also tells us about the positive Viking view of women and how Vikings were not mindless barbarians as we are told to believe. Daniel leaves us with a closing message.

VERY GIFTED ENERGY HEALER!! PAUL LA FRANCE!

    in Spirituality

After a personally painful experience 7 years ago, Paul La France found he was able to help others overcome challenging physical and emotional conditions by bringing through Universal energy transmitting it clients, often with profound healing results.

Around 2007, Paul was remembering that his grandfather was often asked to pray for people who were ill and expected to die. His prayers were powerful and often, the unexpected occurred. The person he prayed for recovered. So while in deep meditation Paul asked that he be guided to a way of helping people much like his grandfather had.

However, within a half hour of Paul’s meditation he felt severe pains in his spine, head and kidneys. In fact he thought that once again he was passing kidney stones. The Emergency Room doctors refuted this and added that none of the tests results were helpful in explaining his extremely painful condition. They didn’t want to release him and insisted he take morphine.

Shortly afterwards, Paul became very aware of energies running through him and out his hands. He came to the realization that his sudden pains after the meditation had been a release of physical blockages, opening him up to flow energies which can help others. Since then, he has continued to use and further develop his abilities as he helps people over come and deal with many conditions which negatively affect their lives. http://funnelofenergy.com/

Hot Hitz DJ interviews indie artists Young Memph, Khatib, and UENO

    in Music

    Young Memph

Age of 21 born in the City of Memphis TN, Frayser area by way of Atlanta GA.. Young Memph has been influenced by artist such as Yo Gotti, Mr Bigs, The Isley Brothers, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Biggie & Tupac. Yet to date his greatest influence remains to be his sisters that taught him how to drop bars. Young Memph moved to Atlanta at the age of 12 and started recording at 13.

Memph states “he knew his music was good but not good enough” and started to make music all could enjoy, by not overpowering his musical creations with profanity . Not to say he has gone soft or lost his edge, his craft proves he can go bar for bar with the best of them with so much personality and distinctive swagger in his flow one can’t help but listen close for his next punch line or how Memph will deliver his next verse, while proudly holding his head high when his mother listens to his musical

    Khatib

Born April 8th, 1983 in Hayti, Missouri, Khatib had the normal, small town country living. Making due with what he had made him appreciate things at a young age. "I didn't have the best or much but whatever it was meant the world to me," recalls the lyrically gifted emcee. Growing up in the shadow of his older brother, Khatib participated in sports. Even though he was fairly talented in them, he felt athletics wasn't his calling. "That was my older brother's thing, my mom had me doing it because he did it" says Khatib. Dealing with feeling neglected from riffs between his parents, a young Khatib turned to music as an escape. The poetic satire of the artists only intrigued the young lad. It wasn't until the infamous butt whooping Khatib received for saying Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Doggystyle" album cover was going to be him, that he knew what his career path would be.

Getting Hammered with Steve Hamilton and Stevie J West - Mar 27, 2015

    in Politics Conservative

It's Friday night, the end of another very long week, and that means it's time to relax and join Stevie and Steve for Getting Hammered.  Tonight, we're talking about the GermanWings crash, the pilot, and the stories behind the stories.  Also, why do conspiracy theories about these incidents make headlines before the facts do? We'll discuss that as well.

Hey, a new law in Indiana, something about cakes, or private businesses.  Apparently there is some real heartache over this law. Even those that see it as a law to enforce the law.  Maybe a law to reduce judicial activism?  If not a law, how do we change that? Jason DeWilkins (@atm_show) joins us to discuss)

Plus, we'll discuss all the other crazy news this week.  So grab a cold one, join us at the bar, it's Friday night and we're Getting Hammered
