Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Nathan East!

    in Music

If you are reading this - and you have read other biographical information that your show host has written about hundreds of artists, then this will take you by surprise.  I am totally freaked out.  LOL!!!  Because Nathan East is something else ENTIRELY.

Over three decades of support for household names.  A few - let's alphabetize: Barbra Streisand, Eric Clapton, Daft Punk (Grammy Awards here, pay attention!), Herbie Hancock, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Toto, Whitney Houston....still breathing? Oh, I KNOW, y'all!  This is what I'm SAYING - this man is a ROCK of mass appeal.  Genre jumping, bass busting, talent. Quincy Jones has said: "He's so talented it's ridiculous!"

A little background so yers truly can calm down.  Born in Philadelphia, Nathan was four when his family (eight kids!) moved to San Diego.  Nathan studied cello first, then became interested in bass when he was 14.  His influences: Mingus and Ron Carter.  Electric: Paul McCartney and Chuck Rainey.

On the road with Barry White when he was 16, his resume just grew from THERE.  Multiple awards, soundtracks that are too numerous to mention, co-founding Fourplay, an online electric bass school, an accomplished magician as well as everything else just discussed - and - drumroll, please: over 2,000 credits to his name.  Honest to God, one of the most recorded Bass players in musical history.

The reason for this visit from the esteemed Nathan East on 9/1: his partnership with Fourplay member, Bob James.  Their astonishing project, "The New Cool" is about to drop.  THIS host has dropped already, hearing it!  Music to captivate and haunt, it's the crown jewel within the Yamaha Family, the company that is sponsoring this golden event.

What a thrill to bring you a glimpse into Nathan East.  Second hour. Get your seat EARLY :)

January Jones-Diva In the Dugout-Arlene Hittle

    in Books

But she’s been a writer since second grade. That was when she started filling her great-grandpa’s giant sketchbook with story after story — most of them about little girls who found puppies, because she wanted one. She didn’t get that puppy until she was out on her own. She did, however, know early on that she wanted to entertain others with her fiction.

With three books published by Turquoise Morning Press (Diva in the Dugout, Beauty and the Ballplayer and Sliding into Home) and two indie stories out there (Home for the Holidays and Blind Date Bride), that lifelong ambition is becoming reality.

    Meet Arlene Hittle:

She is a member of Northern Arizona Romance Writers of America and currently serves as the chapter’s president. She has a B.S. in journalism from the University of Evansville (Indiana) and has worked in the newspaper industry as a reporter or copy editor/page designer since 1994. After being laid off in September 2014, she’s  freelancing as a copy editor and proofreader.
