Brought to you by The American Public Safety Training Institute (TAPSTI) www.tapsti.org, this 2 hour session will review juvenile correctional counseling and rehabilitation within the prison system. From 1991 through to 2003, the number of juveniles housed in residential programs increased by 27 percent such that there were 96,000 juveniles across the country who were housed in residential programs (Snyder & Sickmund, 2006). Many of these had mental health issues including major depression, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. The juvenile justice system in this country is faced with the same challenges as our adult correctional system in serving youth who may have one or more mental health disorders. Using Albert Robert's work entitled "Correctional Counseling and Treatment" we will take a look at the assessment, classification, and treatment of juvenile offenders, risks of reoffending, and family inteventions.

Unity America Radio is a Digital Media Presentation Broadcast that is both educational and motivational. Unity America, offers The United American Veterans Paid Internship Program as an opportunity for Vets and college students to gain practical work experience in the digital media journalism and broadcast field; including social networking, marketing, public presentation, and FUN-raising! We also encourage transitional Veterans to actively establish a business as free enterprise.
Our Primary objective is to help Veterans transition from Active Duty to Productive Members of Society by raising awareness pertaining to Support Structures available bringing Veterans with the rest of our Community together. 4 of 5 college students do not find employment after graduation due to lack of experience. The United American Veterans Internship combats that statistic. Our Internship is a stepping stone to secure and help advance the preservation of America. Our intent is to establish a private non-profit school for selected Veterans, and College Students we choose to help us on our mission. Our school will not charge for tuition nor require any payment from our Veterans and Interns.
Unity America Radio raises awareness, empowers education and promotes Unity. "UNITED WE STAND" Subjects include: what, where, when, and how to benefit our social support structure as well as matters pertaining to our education, military, economy, workforce, civil rights, recreation, leadership and much more. The discussions are open for everyone with interaction and implore through communication the changes and ongoing traditions we continue to uphold.
The Summer of 1984 was an eventful 3 months for new Commissioner David Stern and the NBA; on the heels of an epic 7-game Finals slugfest between Larry Bird’s World Champion Boston Celtics and Magic Johnson’s Los Angeles Lakers, the first of 3 heavyweight bouts in the Decade, the NBA Draft was held in New York City; the Draft would introduce fans to 4 future Hall of Famers who would each write their own chapter in the NBA’s History Books. There was Forward Charles Barkley of Auburn, the rowdy, raucous “Round Mound of Rebound”, his polar opposite, little-known Guard John Stockton of Gonzaga, the majestic Nigerian Center and Number One pick Akeem “The Dream” Olajuwon from the University of Houston, and the electric (Cue Chicago Bulls Public Address Announcer …”6 foot 6 Guard from North KAR-O-LINA!”)…Michael Jeffrey Jordan. These next-level players would secure the NBA’s rapidly growing stature as the Sport of the Future, with Bird and Magic now at the peak of their powers. Jordan, Georgetown Center Patrick Ewing and 10 of College Basketball’s best would represent USA Basketball in the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, led by iconic and infamous Coach Bobby Knight of Indiana University. Knight, known lovingly as a “Raving Maniac” by his players brought his no-nonsense, drill-sergeant mentality to the USA program and molded yet another Gold Medal Winner. The agony and ecstacy of the Draft process, with its Franchise-changing consequences were never more evident than the summer of ’84.
