How To Grow Award Winning Roses Organically

    in Environment

Roses are always the centerpiece of every well manicured garden. They can be a challenge at times but the rewards are great. Due to concerns about the harsh chemicals used to help cultivate these high maintenance plants, more and more gardeners are seeking advice from Rosarians to help them grow beautiful roses organically. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to award winning Rosarian and author, Susan Fox, founder of Gaga's Garden. Biographical Sketch: As an avid horticulturist holding national awards for growing prize winning roses and award winning gardens, Gaga will share her knowledge with you. A master in the art of rose growing and garden design Gaga's expertise includes speaking on growing and the care of roses to the Plano and Dallas Master Gardeners Groups. During her tenure as treasurer of the Northeastern Illinois Rose Society, her society was instrumental in having the rose named as the national flower by the President of the United States. The Organic View™ Christmas Show

    in Entertainment

Today is a very special segment because it marks a particular milestone for The Organic View, which actually launched just this past July! It is hard to believe that the public response has been as tremendously receptive as it has been. I have had the pleasure of interviewing some of the top leaders in the organic industry as well as environmental and animal rights advocates and activists. So many wonderful people who are not looking for recognition but are doing the right thing because they know someone has got to do it! As a token of gratitude, love and in honor of the true meaning of Christmas, I have invited some very special people to help celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way, that is, with good friends, good food and good music! Today, my very best Good Food Friend, Dennis Weaver, Founder of Change Your Food, Change Your Life and I will spend this next hour with you as we welcome the Pastor Gary L. Wyatt and my favorite Organic Jazz Singer, Ellen Livesay who will be performing live to help us celebrate the reason for the season!

Will They Go Extinct Next? The Project to End Great Ape Slavery

    in Environment

We are at a critical point where so many species are on the brink of extinction. Primates are one of the endangered species that are hunted for food and captured for exploitation. Great apes – chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans – are in great demand in Middle Eastern and East Asian safari parks, zoos and private menageries. Most shocking is the fact that corrupt national CITES officials in several countries are deeply involved in the trafficking. Many die en route to the transit cities, packed in between other illicit products, they suffocate, starve to death, or their little throats dry up whilst calling for help which never arrives.  It's a journey through Hell, to slavery, to a life behind bars. It is a life sentence for a crime which they have never committed. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host June Stoyer talks to wildlife photographer and environmental advocate, Karl Ammann, about this crisis and what we can do to protect all primates.  Today's show is brought to you by Eden Foods the most trusted name in certified organic clean food! What are the proper tools that should be used for pruning?  How do you know where to prune and when?  What is a good seasonal guide to follow? What do you do if you make a mistake?

Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer, talks to award-winning Rosarian, Susan Fox as she shares some of her bestpruning tips in preparation for the new growing season! Stay tuned!

Why Is Coral Being Used For Fashion & Home Decor?

    in Environment

In 2010, when the Gulf Oil spill happened, the public was outraged. There was a worldwide outcry of concern for marine life and marine preservation as the Gulf Oil spill contaminated miles of pristine ocean and its surrounding areas. However, there is an even bigger problem affecting marine life. It is being done for the sake of fashion and exotic home décor. An estimated 70-90% of marine aquariums are collected illegally using poisonous cyanide. Other poisons such as bleach, formalin, and gasoline are also used. This not only reduces biodiversity but also removes key components of the reef ecosystem, including algae grazers, which help maintain ecosystem health. Coral reefs contain some of the largest diversity of life in the world. They are home to thousands of different plants and animals. For example, coral reefs in the Florida Keys sustain 500 species of fish, more than 1700 species of mollusks, five species of sea turtles, and hundreds of species of sponges. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Dr. Dan Thornhill, Coral Reef Marine Scientist from Defenders of Wild Life about what we need to do to protect our precious coral reef.

New UK Study Reveals Impact Of Neonicotinoids On Bee Brains & Colony Health

    in Environment

Research at the Universities of Dundee and St Andrews has confirmed that levels of neonicotinoid insecticides accepted to exist in agriculture cause both impairment of bumblebees’ brain cells and subsequent poor performance by bee colonies. The contribution of the neonicotinoids to the global decline of insect pollinators is controversial and contested by many in the agriculture industry. However, the new research, published in the Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, demonstrates for the first time that the low levels found in the nectar and pollen of plants is sufficient to deliver neuroactive levels to their site of action, the bee brain. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Dr. Chris Connolly about his latest research. Stay tuned!

Why Plant GMO's When You Can Feed The World With Aquaponics!

    in Environment

While Big Ag is spewing its propaganda about how gmo's are mandatory to feed an out of control population, organic advocates are busy educating the world about a truly sustainable model called aquaponics. This model will produce a high yield without necessarily having to farm a large acreage. Aquaponics is the cultivation of fish and plants together in a constructed, re-circulating ecosystem utilizing natural bacterial cycles to convert fish wastes to plant nutrients. What does aquaponics gardening entail and how exactly does it work?

Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer talks to Sylvia Bernstein, author of “Aquaponic Gardening: A Step by Step Guide to Growing Fish and Vegetables Together.” Sylvia also runs the Aquaponic Gardening Community, the largest online community site dedicated to aquaponic gardening in North America, and is the U.S. Chapter Chairman of the Aquaponics Association.

In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Barbara Peterson, about why we should ban genetically modified crops. Stay tuned!
