    Is Society Obsessed With Weight?

    in Health

We hear all the time about weight gain, weight loss, how Americans are the heaviest we’ve ever been, and myriad plans for remedying our egregious fatness. And yet…what if a lot of what we’re told and what we believe simply isn’t true? Award-winning writer Harriet Brown set out to explore our relentless obsession with weight and thinness—with surprising results.  In Body of Truth, Brown tackles the myths and realities of the “obesity epidemic,” exposing the biggest lies driving the rhetoric of obesity. With provocative prose and razor-sharp wit, she examines our tendency to find weight scapegoats (sugar and wheat are the current favorites), gives historical and contemporary context for what it means to be “fat” (making a strong case that it’s not a dirty word), and offers ways for all of us to think about weight and health with more nuance, accuracy, and respect. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host June Stoyer talks to Harriet Brown author of the best-selling book, Body of Truth, How Science, History, and Culture Drive Our Obsession with Weight--and What We Can Do About It. Are you an avid gardener or are just learning about gardening? Today's show is brought to you by Eden Foods the most trusted name in certified organic clean food! Joel Salatin's Folks,This Ain’t Normal

    in Environment

Thanks to decades of clever mass marketing campaigns, the average person has become completely disconnected with how our food is grown and also what real food should look like. With the agro-chemical companies chiming away that “there is going to be a food shortage if we don't produce more food and decrease the world population in order for everyone to survive,” the reality is most people do not have a clue as to how their food is produced, where it is grown or how it is grown. Processed foods, initially created with the intention to save time, are simply not a healthy choice. In his best-selling book, Folks, This Aint Normal: A Farmers Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World he takes us into his world as he talks about how our food is produced and why we ought to take a closer look at where and how our food is produced. Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer talks to Joel Salatin about getting to know who grows your food and why, Folks,This Ain’t Normal!

Almost a year ago, a Presidential Memorandum was issued in June requesting that all federal agencies work together to develop a cohesive plan for pollinator protection. Has EPA and USDA created a resolution for protecting pollinators?

In this special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, host June Stoyer and special guest co-host, Colorado beekeeper, Tom Theobald talk to Michele Colopy, Program Director, Executive Director of the Pollinator Stewardship Council. Stay tuned!

The efforts in the United States for transparency have been great but is gmo labeling the way to go?
