    in Women

Hanna's story is very compelling and riveting.  It's a true crime account about survival and courage.  Hanna was living a beautiful life, a life of dreams that suddenly all changed.  Her dreamlike life turned to horror as her raging husband stood across from her and fired his gun.

By a miracle, she survived to tell her story and how she overcame abuse. It would be very beneficial for your audience to listen to Hanna's experience and know what questions to ask to identify abuse.  Reading her story, Lived to Tell It one will gain courage and the power to overcome similar situations and give hope to every woman trapped in an abusive relationship.

    in Business

Hey Folks, if you didn't tune in to tonights show-you missed another great opportunity to learn about RECOVERY through the Candid-Open & sincerely HONEST sharing of one of our listeners-calling in to share Her Experience, Strength & Hope. WOW! She demonstrated Strength, Courage, & Compassion, while helping herself to grow within herself. What a Miracle! AND YOU & "I" Got to be Present during the entire time. How waaay cool as well! You see people - this is NOT a scripted program & not one where you need to say or do anything other than to BE YOURSELVES.

My/our attempt by hosting this show is to continue helping people to find RECOVERY from ANY Addiction that you may be facing. I/We want to help ERASE the Stigma oftentimes associates with Recovery. Through Recovery we have come to find Ourselves-once lost within our minds-captured and being held captive by our active Addictions, which would tell us that we were NO GOOD or TOO GOOD or WE DIDN'T BELONG, etc... you get the picture. We became LONERS and Isolationists to our detriment & that of those loved ones around us as well.

STOP!! There is an answer, & YES "HE" is "MY" HIgher Power, whom I choose to call Jesus Christ,GOD. NOW you don't need to find MY God - however I/we will encourage you to find a relationship with a God of your own choosing. In fact we encourage you to find yourself, forgive yourself, & become the friend & aide to others who have struggled along the same paths as you & I. We ARE NOT Doctors of Counselors, or psychologists, you get the picture. We are like you, human beings who may have lost our way due to any various distractions put forth in this world. We offer you HOPE & a Hand to grow in Recovery. Join us Sundays 7 to 9 PM CST. Call-in 323-580-5755

    in Music

CaribbeanRadio Show Sunday 8pm - 10pm, March 29th TOPIC: Some Like It Rough - Abusive Relationships
dial in 661-467-2407Hosts; Prof D. and BMichelle. Is it possible for him to love me and beat me? verbally abuse me? mentally abuse me?What do you think about it?.

    1. He pushes for quick involvement.  He comes on strong, claiming, "I've never felt loved like this before by anyone." You get pressured for an exclusive commitment almost immediately.

    2. There is jealousy. Your partner is excessively possesive, calls constantly, or visits unexpectedly.

    3. He is controlling. He interrogates you intensely about who you talked to and where you were; checks mileage on the car; keeps all the money or asks for receipts; insists you ask for permission to go anywhere or do anything.

    4. He has very unrealistic expectations. He expects you to be the perfect person and meet their every need.

    5. There is isolation. He tries to cut you off from family and friends; deprives you of a phone or car, or tries to prevent you from holding a job.

    6. He blames others for his own mistakes. The boss, family, you - it's always someone else's fault if anything goes wrong.

Increased Alcoholism Rates Post Gastric Bypass Surgery

    in Lifestyle

In 2012 a study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association that reports the percentage of patients abusing alcohol increased from 7.6% to 9.6% two years after gastric bypass surgery - potentially creating 2,000 alcoholics every year in the US.

There is more than one theory on why this occurs.  Some say it is addiction transfer: a patient switches an addiction to food to an addiction to alcohol.  More recent evidence suggests an anatomical explanation - metabolic and hormonal changes triggered by gastric bypass surgery that leave patients especially vulnerable to alcoholism.  Maybe it is both - or neither?  The truth is nobody is 100% sure of why alcoholism rates increase post surgery.

If you are struggling with alcoholism post-surgery, however, the reason why may not be as relevant as what to do about it.  There are unique challenges that face people whose alcoholism may be attributed to gastric bypass surgery, and on this episode of the Bubble Hour we will discuss this startling trend.  We will share more information about why experts feel this increased vulnerability to alcoholism occurs, and speak with special guest Jessica about her own experience with gastric bypass surgery, alcoholism and recovery.

We are also excited to welcome Diane Grimaldi, DNP, PMHCS, BC as a guest on the show and an expert on this issue.

Diane started her psychotherapy practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1984 after receiving her Masters Degree in Adult Mental Health Nursing from Boston College and becoming a board certified Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric Nursing.

In 2014 she received a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.  For more information about Diane and her practice please visit www.grimaldicounseling.com.
