This week on the Punch Drunk Podcast we've got reviews of The LEGO Movie, Monuments Men, and Vampire Academy. Then its off to the land of TV as The Walking Dead returns this Sunday, we'll make sure to get you up to speed before the mid-season premier!!
On this week's show, Cinema Royale opens the toybox and snaps together a review of The LEGO Movie featuring Batman, Superman, Ninja Turtles, and the voices of Morgan Freeman, Chris Pratt, and Elizabeth Banks. Then we'll journey back in history with George Clooney for The Monuments Men, a WWII thriller starring Matt Damon, Bill Murray, and Cate Blanchett.
Plus news on X-men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and more.
Clooney and Damon bring their trademark charm to the wacky battlefields of World War II in this week’s feature review of tonally mismatched caper/serious drama The Monuments Men! Wow, that’s enough cinematic goodness to fill a secret Nazi mine! But wait, there’s more! We’ve also got 300: Rise of an Empire, Lone Survivor, The Great Hip Hop Hoax, 12th and Delaware and a brief chat about Short Term 12! You want more? Ok…I guess there’s….you want I, Frankenstein? You really don’t. But we got that too in this jam packed episode. We’re practically giving it away.
On this week's ScreenPicks Movie Show, we review four new films. First we discuss the new George Clooney and Matt Damon film The Monuments Men. Then we'll review The Lego Movie, followed by the teen comedy Vampire Academy, and Zoe Kazan and Jake Johnson's new movie The Pretty One.
AreYouScreening.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review The Monuments Men.
After being pushed back more than once, and losing out on the 2013 awards circuit, the Clooney/Damon vehicle with the incredible cast is taking on February and is surrounded by buzz, but is it all it's cracked up to be? We'll let you know.
Rumors have swirled about how many Pay-Per-View buys Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's win over Miguel Cotto pulled in, and so far the news is quite good, if not surprising. It was a solid kinda-middleweight fight, but perhaps not the clash many had hoped for.
The fight that stole all the attention was Francisco Vargas' war with Takashi Miura. In danger of being stopped by a damaged eye, Vargas rallied to end Miura's night in the 9th round. It was an instant "Fight of the Year" contender.
As some may have expected, Guillermo Rigondeaux didn't entertain much on the card.
But this coming weekend we get to see two huge fighters compete for the heavyweight title on in Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury, on HBO. This could be a case of who you think will win and who you want to win being two different things.
Also on the menu, James DeGale fights a comebacking Lucian Bute on Showtime in Quebec City.
All these things and more will be covered by James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor. And probably with too many jokes thrown in.
