    Episode 20: Terrance Plummer/ILB/Central Florida

    in Football

The 20th episode of "Inside the War Room," we will be joined by star Central Florida Inside Linebacker Terrance Plummer. He's an instinctive player with good range and has the potential to develop into a good starter in the NFL. However, he must be more consistent getting off blockers and finishing more plays in the backfield as he can be a split second late to react. Also, he's good in man coverage and a good blitzer. While at Central Florida, he was named first-team All-AAC twice as well as the 2014 Fiesta Bowl MVP and Senior Bowl All Star. Follow Terrance and NFL Draft War Room on twitter @KnightBred_41 & @NFLDraftWRoom respectively. If you have missed any of the previous episodes of "Inside the War Room" then check them out here:  http://www.nfldraftwarroom.com/interviews.html

    The Natural Mentoring Experience

    in Self Help

Culture-Based Mentoring, Making The Most Of Our Children

I was very happy to discover the statistics below in my Black Seeds calendar upon first opening it.  It was like a sign supporting my need to bring attention to how important a tool mentoring is for OUR people of African decent, we are now called Black People, in a land that does not value us.

    It says that;

    *  Of all Black fourth-graders, 58% are functionally illiterate.

    *  In some cities, 80% of our boys drop out before finishing high school.

    *  Every day 1,000 Black children are arrested.

    *  The number one cause of death for our children is homicide.

In 1902 and 1903 a group of "educators" met in upstate NY.  Their task was to design a public school curriculum that would control the masses, particularly poor Blacks and prepare them to work for the rich.  Public schools were created as a means of social control and were never meant to uplift Black people.

In decades past, especially in the period of time before integration, extended families and communities served as mentors to children.  This close relationship led to the transfer of skills and the retention of family values, and history, in a very natural way.

The public school system had very little in its curriculum about Africans and their contributions, to the development of the world.  So the children were ashamed of their history because all they knew about was slavery and negative sterotypes.

This was the mind set of the educators in power at the turn of the 20th century. 100+ years later; is their plan still working?  We need to teach the black children and as many black adults as we can possibly reach, how to join a viable PLAN of mentoring each other on an ongoing basis; daily!  Take the Initiative!!!

Remembering Who We Are with Pia Smith Orleane and Cullen Baird Smith

    in Spirituality

What if we could expand beyond our third dimensional reality and at the same time, create a more healthy, happy, abundant life in our current Earthbound experience?

That's a tall order, but Pia Orleane and Cullen Smith have brought forth a new book Remembering Who We Are that offers a pathway to achieve exactly that. Subtitled Laarkmaa's Guidance on Healing the Human Condition, the book by these two renowned and powerful channelers delivers the guidance and wisdom of a group of advanced light beings from the Pleiades named Laarkmaa (describing themselves as "one of six and six of one").

Laarkmaa chose Pia Orleane and Cullen Smith to bring this message to humanity, but unlike other channelers, they receive the messages simultaneously only when holding hands. Their joint reception and opposite views eliminate the filter effect that an individual personality can have on the truths that are presented.

In this new book, Laarkmaa tells humanity that the time for teachers and healers is over--each of us has the same wisdom within our own hearts. Laarkmaa encourages us not to believe anyone else (including them!), but to remember who we are and reclaim our own intuitive powers to access the whole truth. And they urge us to work quickly because our world is coming to a crisis level that requires action.

Maria Ho, 2014 World Series of Poker "Last Woman Standing"

    in Women

Maria Ho, who just took this year's 2014 World Series of Poker "Last Woman Standing" title (77 out of 6,683) and is also the most-cashing female at the world's top poker event currently airing on ESPN (Sunday's @ 9:00pm). Maria is currently ranked in the top 3 of the best female poker players in the world, to date having won over $1.6 million dollars in her whirlwind career. She is also working on her second season as the very first female strategic host for the Heartland Poker Tour.

Born in Taiwan, Maria moved to LA with her parents and sister at the age of 4. She attended the University of California at San Diego and received a degree in communication studies and a minor in law. It was then  that she picked up poker, playing occasionally for fun with friends. After graduating, Maria moved back to Los Angeles and built enough confidence and skill set to pursue poker professionally.  Taking the industry by storm just one year after launching her career, she played in The World Series of Poker and in 2007 was The Last Woman Standing, finishing 38th out of over 6,000 players. In 2011 she won the same title finishing 27th at the World Series of Poker Europe main event, which, to date, makes her the first and only player to ever hold both titles and the 2 tournaments' main events. Maria was also a contestant on CBS' award-winning reality show "The Amazing Race" partnered with Tiffany Michelle, her best friend and fellow Last Woman Standing winner. The duo were the only all-female team of the 15th season.
