A raucous crowd of 13,109 at Staples Center got their money’s worth on Saturday as two Mexican warriors Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares went to war for the vacant WBA Super World featherweight title.
In what was billed as the biggest fight of their careers, not only were Los Angeles bragging rights on the line between the two Southern California-based Mexican immigrants, but pride, as both fighters came into their mega-clash as world champions in multiple weight classes.
Mares, 29, surprised many by going right after his adversary to start the fight, bringing reminders to the day Marvin Hagler fought Tommy Hearns back in 1985.
The action was impeccable, as both fighters never let the other have an inch, like two NASCAR drivers battling for the same spot in the dying laps, except we were just getting started.

14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz in Israel
The Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz is held on the 17th day of Tammuz, which is the fourth month of the Hebrew calendar. It observes five calamities that affected the Jewish people. These are: (1) Moses broke the tablets of stone and (2) an idol known as “the Golden Calf” was erected in 1313 BCE; (3) the daily sacrificial offerings were discontinued in 423 BCE; (4) Jerusalem’s walls were breached in 69 BCE; and (5) the Roman military leader Apostomus burned a Torah scroll possibly around 50 CE just before the Bar Kokhba revolt.

What do people do?
Many Jewish people fast from dawn until nightfall by abstaining from food and drinks. However, people who are ill or weak, children and pregnant or nursing mothers may not fast completely but only eat simple food. In addition, special prayers are recited and sections of the Torah and Haftarah (Haftorah, Haptara) are read during the morning and evening services. In contrast to some fast days, Jewish people may be permitted to wear leather and wash themselves on the 17th of Tammuz.
The Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz, also known as the 17th (or Seventeenth) of Tammuz, is not a public holiday in Israel.
The 17th day of Tammuz is a day of mourning for Jewish people. It marks the anniversary of five calamities. On this day in the year 1313 BCE, Moses broke the tablets of stone that were inscribed with the Ten Commandments and the idol of “the Golden Calf” was erected.

Heyyyyy everyone, it's ya girl Lucky, coming through on this Throwback Thursday. Tonight we are paying tribute to the late great Aaliyah. Her death anniversary was Tuesday, August 25th. We are going to go back in time and remember her music talents, dancing, and acting career. Oh how we loved her so much. She changed the game and set the bar for a lot of artists out. She was recruited by R. Kelly and soon linked up with Timbaland an Missy, to soar high in the music biz, with sick beats and the flyest dance moves. Let's take a moment and reminisce. Call me tonight and let's talk, 347-857-4391 an press 1 to speak or you can continue listening live via Internet.

Wolfhours was conceived in the mind of Shontai Ralieck George a poet ,wordsmith, barz spitter master from Brooklyn New York. Though he now resides in the southern states he still has that gritty streetwise intelligence that makes him one of the most intriguing sought after figures within the poetic community.
The wolfhour concept basically presents a way for everyone to tell their story. Everyone no matter what background or lifestyle, profession or trade, religious or non-religious ..everybody has a story to tell. The guy on the corner begging for change to the lawyer in the courtroom pleading his/her case before a judge , they all have stories to tell. You might have been driving home from work when suddenly a car crosses three lanes just to get in an accident with you. By via of said incident you now have something to get off your chest. Well let it off!!!! We call this a vent. Venting is what the wolfhours movement prescribes if you got some stored up energy that needs to be released in the form of words. Written, spoken, even singing there is no one way to vent.
This blog talk radio show will give wordmiths nationwide a platform to showcase their skills in front of a virtual audience. Spoken word is the new hip hop. The body of the old hip hop is dying so it is up to us as word smiths to preserve this art form by embracing this movement through spoken word. So whether you are a bar spitter ..ballad writer, erotica, political, conscious or what have you. Its time to represent this art to the fullest. As and added bonus we will be featuring some of the hottest spoken word artist in the poetic community, given our callers the opportunity to call in, get in que to spit or ask the featured guest a question. Even if you just want to call in an enjoy the show either way the airwaves will be set a flame.
Carter Calvert is known in QUITE a few circles - she is, without hype - a respected fixture in the New York Theater scene. Carter has brought life to "Always...Patsy Cline" - as well as "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Cats." She co-starred with Gregory Porter and Eloise Laws in "It Ain't Nothing But the Blues" and has traveled the world with the touring company of "Smokey Joe's Cafe." TV appearances and voice-over work for Wendy's, MTV and Amazon - and a list of household names that have shared the stage with her - we could be here for days! Carter has returned to a first love: Jazz - with a new album called "It's a Man's World." All male-originated songs done from a female perspective. It's divine! And she has a release party coming in her stomping grounds soon - let's celebrate in the first hour of the show :)
In the third hour, Wayne Jones drops by! He might not stay long because he's covering a LOT of territory while he's in the States. In Australia, he is known as one of the mightiest session bassists of all time! He's also a songwriter and arranger and master clinician. For over three decades, Wayne has gifted other musicians with the beauty of that fluid, funky and fearless bass. With his years of studio work - and his TV/film credits - Wayne thought it was time to release another body of work to feed the Jones-hungry crowd who demanded it. There are five tracks on "Mr. Jones" - but those are filled with the greatness of Wayne's bass and guests: Rick Braun, Mike MacArthur and Philippe Saisse! He'll be with Mike on the last Sunday in August - in Clearwater, Florida. But he found the time beforehand to visit with us! There is so much wonderful music to share - join us in The Chat Room and let's enjoy it together!
