Insight by Damaris for week ending 4/18

    The Ego and The Soul

A woman went into a relationship without many expectations
    or stipulations, just free-like.
After being involved for a while, her partner decides that he is interested
in seeing someone else, buuut... if she wanted, she could still be his
"girl number 1" and stick around.
Unaware of his intentions, the proposal took her off guard and she became very angry.
Although she knew the relationship was not for her, she decided to stick around and be spiteful to make him pay..or..make him want her more than the other woman; her ego could not let go and she remained.
Time passed and her energy began to dwindle.
She became confused as to how to move forward in her career.
Once focused, passionate about life and the potential to succeed, she now was disoriented and on the verge of depression.
Although her parents were supportive of her when she was active in her career pursuits, they now hold money from her because to them, she can not be trusted.
She is now wondering who she is and has a difficult time finding her soul's purpose.

    How did she lose herself?
A.) she never knew herself to begin with and was living out her parents dreams
B.) depression medication took her down a dark path
C.) she put too much into her relationships with others
    D.) other- explain

Carrie Cariello provides insight to her Autism book- What color is Monday?

    in Lifestyle

    What Color Is Monday?

How Autism Changed One Family For The Better

In this moving memoir, What Color Is Monday?: How Autism Changed One Family For The Better (Feb, 2015), Carrie Cariello invites us to take a peek into exactly what it takes to get through each day juggling the needs of her whole family. Through hilarious mishaps, honest insights, and heartfelt letters addressed to her children, she shows us the beauty and wonder of raising a child who views the world through a different lens, and how ultimately autism changed her family for the better.

As a busy mom of five kids, four sons and one daughter, she chronicles family adventures and experiences; most of which we can all readily relate to. Her words so aptly describe the chaos of life within a big family, along with the quiet moments that seem so ordinary but are often extraordinary. She’s honest and funny, sometimes emotional, but always noticing the little things that often get overlooked in the course of a whirlwind of a day; and by the way, one of her sons, Jack, has autism.

Autism may be part of their daily lives, but it doesn’t define life within the Cariello family.  The book’s title references a conversation Cariello had with her son Jack, who asked one day what color she saw for Monday. Until then, she had no idea that he saw all days as colors, and in retelling the story she said, “On a seemingly ordinary day, Jack once again granted me the privilege to take a tiny peek inside his fascinating mind.”

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Carrie Cariello lives in Southern New Hampshire with her husband, Joe, and their five children.

The Ministry Of Music: Featuring Larry Clark

    in Christianity

This world is full of various types of music. From Jazz, Rap, Country, R&B, Classic, New Age, Metal, Rock, Pop, Gospel, Soul, Inspirational, Reggae, Latin, and the list goes on and on. Music has a way of influencing our actions, moods, and thoughts. In other words....there is a ministry in music, whether good or bad. In this show we want to focus in on the church and how music through history has been instrumental in worship and encouragement to those who are receptive to it's message. When it comes to music, what is acceptable by God? What is truly conducive to proper worship? How much of the secular world have we allowed in to the church?

This being a week where we will be featuring many aspects from our book entitled "12 Kings and Their Treasures: Transparent, Testimony, Truth". As we spotlight our fellow King Eric Haylock's chapter entitled "Hip Hop"..we will have the honor to be joined by our VERY special guest Mr. Larry Clark. A talented songwriter, producer out of Detroit, Michigan who is also a member of Perfecting Church that's lead by Bishop Marvin L. Winans. Larry also comes from a legendary musical family known as " The Clark Sisters"..where he recently worked on a couple of projects with his aunt Twinkie Clark. He is also the Minister of Music for New Greater Love Baptist Church out of Detroit. We are grateful to have him share with us his insight on music within the church. Tell your family and friends...and join myself Rodney D. Kirkwood and my special co-host and fellow King.. Mandrill Mclaughlin as well for what will be a DYNAMIC broadcast with the 12 Kings. Join us and be blessed!

Returning: Letting Go of the Old

    in Spirituality

There is a turning point that recharges us when we have spent too much time in the dark. Usually it is when we are letting go of the old and making way for the new. Tune in this week as Lisa Jones and I discuss new beginnings and returning. We often forget that this stage of the work starts with rest. We are so programmed to hustle and DO that we move too fast. By returning to clarity and truth we gain new momentum. Any cycle of change that moves us from the dark to the light demands that we recharge ourselves. Few realize that this time in the dark is a form of hibernation, allowing our energy to renew itself. We are strengthened by rest. We’ve experienced this insight when recuperating after an illness or during the slow return of trust after a period of estrangement. Tonight’s show speaks to moments of new beginnings.
