Tiffany Davis knows how important it is to remain fresh and adventurous, particularly on the career front. “I grew up in a very conservative family, as families of color tend to be, and I was good in creative fields like writing and drawing, but that was never encouraged. I was geared toward science and academic pursuits, but when I got jobs in corporate America, I was miserable,” she tells That’s So Very Vanessa host Vanessa Bell Calloway. After college, I was on track to become a doctor, but I was never really happy with that. So I got a job in medical publishing. Then I moved into being an analyst at a non-profit, but got laid off. That’s when I said, I refuse to work for anyone else. So I was home one day watching the Food Network and I saw an ad for the Culinary Institute of America. And I liked to cook so I applied and not only got in but got a scholarship. Within two years, I was running the kitchen in a four-star restaurant in Miami.”
Tonight my guest is radio host Bob Charles of the Bob Charles International Show.
Bob discusses how he got into radio and what it takes to stay in the business. We also discuss the lack of truth surrounding ET disclosure, the Apollo Missions, his career in music and other topics.
Host Tracy L. Bell hosts "Conversations of a Sistah" on Conversations LIVE every week, bringing you great topics, guests and newsworthy items. If you are looking for a show that delivers it all, then "Conversations of a Sistah" is for you.
Tune in to The Gist of Freedom, The Black History Internet Radio show with host Shellie Gaines as we welcome Award winning Playwright & Author Gabrielle Pina! Gabrielle will talk to Shellie about her play "Letters From Zora" ~Starring Vanessa Bell Calloway. Letters From Zora is currently running at the crossroadstheatrecompany.org!
“Letters from Zora: In Her Own Words,” for which the meticulous and poetic Gabrielle Denise Pina, a novelist in her own right, collected Zora’s massive correspondence and crafted it into a monologue delivered at New Brunswick’s Crossroads Theatre with wit, sincerity, and majesty by Vanessa Bell Calloway.
Calloway’s feat of memory is stunning enough. In more than 100 minutes, without a chance to pause, let alone to stop for an intermission, the actress never stumbled, missed a cue for transition, or failed to articulate the genius, both as a writer, and as a woman determined to live independently according to her own principles, of Zora Neale Hurston.
Calloway’s performance is enchanting. Besides being fluid and heartfelt, it reminds us, thanks to Pina’s excellent editing and composition, how extraordinary and how pioneering Zora was.
Everything Zora for stood and fervently believed is revealed in Pina’s text, and Calloway magically embodies the grit and strongmindedness of Zora along with her femininity, abundant sense of humor, and disdain for anything false or condescending.
Yes, the words as Pina’s title tells us plainly, are Zora’s, but Pina is the one who had to take a volume of letters and make them into one cohesive, listenable and "entertaining" work."

A Confederate page where you can Express Your Southern Pride! God BLESS DIXIE AND THE REBEL FLA...G AND ALL OF THE CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS WHO DIED FOR OUR SOUTHERN STATES. Keep those flags flying high and proud!
No, I'm no more racist than the next person. The fact is that the War between the states A had very little to do with slavery. In fact, it had nothing to with slavery until 1863 when Lincoln used it as a political agenda to save his sorry, dictator wannabe butt.
The War Between the States was about state rights. The north was imposing tariffs out the wazoo on the south. Illegal tariffs, I might add.
Sure, the south wasn't perfect; who is? All I'm saying is that they were the ones ultimately in the right in that 19th century fiasco and they took the flack for it because the winners write the history books. No the true history is written by warriors.
If you want to argue with me, please, argue intelligently. I loath hippies.
Just remember two things: 1) THE NORTHERN STATES HAD MANY SLAVES; 2)The emancipation proclamation claimed (because it had no legal authority) to free only the slaves in the "rebelling states." Northerners were free to keep their slaves until the 13th Amendment.
Why does it matter? Because a lot of heroes died trying to defend the Constitution of the United States of America, which was, at the time, still the Supreme Law of the Land in most cases. After this atrocity more commonly known as the "Civil War," all clauses and amendments regarding states rights have been ignored in every case that didn't directly benefit the federal government.

Also, recognizing what is important to each of your children, gives you a deeper understanding about their needs and preferences.

THIS IS PART TWO OF MY DISCUSSION WITH DB!!!
Part One was about his childhood, now we're getting into Black Studies in this second episode.
I met Dabney at a Meet & Greet in September 2014 at a coffee house. Plus we had previously exchanged some comments back and forth in a facebook group we're both a part of.
He brought all types of books to the meet & greet to share with us. Dabney is passionate about Black Studies!!! And I could tell he sincerely cared about the people in our group, most of which are a lot younger than he and I.
Well, as time went on, I noticed that Dabney was very opinionated about certain subjects. In fact some of his comments on some of my posts and the posts in the group, would challenge the belief systems of others. Look, Dabney is that Dude that will post a comment that makes you say in your head "This Mutha Fucka". Lol!!! Real talk.
As I continued to pay attention to the content of his posts, I realized that there was an interesting story/history that cultivated his fervor for his viewpoint. And you know me. I decided to find out why. So I decided to interview Dabney to find out how he became an orphan at 3 years old and grew into the Freedom Fighter/Teacher that he is today.
