    Teamwork Tango

    in Business

Today’s organizations require that workers be adaptable. Truly effective leaders know how to follow and how it feels to be a follower. Conversely, in order to be a productive team member, one must understand the difficulties of being a team leader. The daily “dance” between leaders and followers requires mutual understanding and a balance of give and take. As the great Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, said: “To lead, one must follow.” In this program, Yael Schy, creator of the Teamwork Tango®  leadership training approach, shares her philosophy and methodology of using partner dancing principles and exercises for helping leaders and followers in organizations to work together more collaboratively and effectively.

Yael Schy is a leader in using expressive arts in organizational learning and development. She is principal of Dramatic Strides® Consulting, specializing in leadership development, communication skills, teambuilding and creative decision-making techniques that help people and organizations move forward together. Her unique Teamwork Tango® workshop, which teaches leadership and teambuilding skills through the metaphor of partner dancing, has been presented at numerous professional conferences and organizations in the U.S. and abroad for more than a decade.

Abigail Clark is a graduate student at the University of Baltimore obtaining her master’s degree in negotiation and conflict management. She left undergrad with the hopes of becoming an addictions counselor, which led her to the University of Maryland School of Social Work. While researching different possibilities, she discovered UB’s Negotiation and Conflict Management program. After reading two course descriptions, she was sold.

Philly's Finest - Coach Eric Taylor

    in Motivation

    HISTORY

Founded in 2012 assisting athletes from South Eastern Pennsylvania improve their football and life skills. This unique opportunity started when a group of young men were turned away from playing a sport they had all grown up loving and playing. Those young men came together along with their parents and decided to form their own team. After presenting their situation to a local football coach they began practicing and competing. Philly’s Finest has quickly become one of the most successful 7v7 programs on the east coast.

    MISSION

To serve our community and youth by providing an environment that breeds competition in athletics and education. The athletes are surrounded by positive coaches and mentors that help guide the athletes through the everyday challenges they face on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities. They are provided with guidance throughout each level of education from high school through college. With the high level of college athletes that graduate from our program, we have become experienced in providing a level of guidance and assistance in the college recruiting process. We not only teach the physical aspects of the game but we raise the athletic intelligence level of each of our athletes. Our goal is to bring out the competitor in each of our athletes so they can be successful on the field and in the classroom.

    VISION

An organization that is made up of football, basketball, track, soccer and cheerleading. Education in the college recruiting process is major and must be provided to parents as well as athletes. Our organization plans to provide that education. Competition will not be limited to just athletics. Our youth will compete in academic competitions in the fields of law, medicine, and business. To further prepare them, our goal is to establish strong tutoring, SAT, and ACT programs.
