Sunday Evening Shout! In The Basement With JaVonne is an uplifting gospel music internet radio show. Not all music played is gospel, but is is all meant to uplift and empower. This is an all people affirming show and stands firm in the belief and promotes equality, justice, and love is for all.  In this segment we have a special guest joining us, Bishop Jacqueline Holland. As an avid believer in the equality, freedom and liberation of all people regardless of gender identity, race, or sexual orientation, Bishop Holland has served faithfully in the Unity Fellowship Church   Movement for more then 20 years. During this time, she has provided training and mentorship for numerous clergy. Many of these clergy who are currently serving in the UFCM, have had the privilege of sharpening their gifts under her tutelage and are effective leaders in various UFCM churches.

Bishop Holland is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her service in the Newark, N.J. community.  She is an advocate against discrimination and violence towards LGBTI&Q persons of all colors. I feel extremely blessed to have her visit us for a little extra Sunday Evening Shout!

    Callywood Live

The legendary John Dolphin, also known as Lovin’ John, was one of the most well respected black businessmen who made his way in the music business in the 1940s and 50s well before Motown ever existed. An independent record label owner and R&B producer, his contributions to the formative years of Rock & Roll are often overlooked. Lovin John, a minimogul who had almost every facet of the record business covered, had taken Los Angeles by storm and brought people of all colors together through music.

Dolphin first entered the Los Angeles music scene as a retailer in 1948, when he opened Dolphin’s of Hollywood, a record store near the corner of Vernon and Central Avenue, the music mecca of the west coast, that would stay open 24 hours a day to cater to the late-shift workforce. The store featured deejays like Huggy Boy and Hunter Hancock broadcasting on the local station of KRKD, in front of the huge, glass window Mr. Dolphin had installed on the face of the store so that people on the outside could see in. Some of the most popular deejays found a home for their art in front of this window, playing for late night crowds of Blacks, Whites, and Latinos alike, who would dance and party together well after dark, until the cops came and shut the parties down.

Her tenacity to evolve and pursue an art career gave her strength to move forward. Her continual changes in her style has gained respect, recognition and admiration.

When she speaks of her art, it is as if she's telling a story of an ancient love she has danced through life with, hand in hand. "I wouldn't know what I would do if I couldn't create. I am so very blessed and choose to carry those blessings to others through my colors and imagination. Hopefully to heal and brighten other lives."

The Black Shoe Diaries Wrestlemania 31 Podcast Extravaganza

    in Sports

Don't worry, we have no idea why we're doing this, either.

This Sunday is Wrestlemania 31, the biggest event in fake sports of the year. Because we're a bunch of children, we decided to do a podcast dedicate to WWE's premier event. Adam Collyer, Bill DiFilippo, BSD alum Dan Vecellio and CoachingSearch.com Managing Editor/contributor to The Only Colors (the network's Michigan State blog) Chris Vannini got together to talk about this year's card. If you have nothing better to do, we highly recommend listening as the guys get way too giddy about Brock Lesnar.
