    in Radio

So DLW is missing in action from yesterday's show.  I'm wondering, since all of the negotiations are going down, Cleveland style - for BASKETBALL, maybe TeamDLW is going to show his TEAM part in his name.  I heard, and this is just a rumor now, I heard that Terrence Howard was interested to get involved with the CAVALIERS, maybe he had a secret meeting with TH, and took a day off to interview - oh, I get it - 347-205-9366.  For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about - tune in to KINGS in the A.M. and you still won't know. HAH!  347-205-9366 - All Aboard!

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1148

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Donna (Dee) Wood from West Virginia, a verbal abuse survivor (as both a child and adult) who says she would be honored to tell her story in the hope she could help others. The devastating effects of the abuse lasted for over forty years, through most of her life. The trauma she endured through her mother’s husband brought a partial amnesia. She writes, "I lived on a small farm in a remote part of southern West Virginia. I was a very introverted child, extremely fearful of strangers." Her mother's husband, who she and her brother always called by his first name, Quentin (never Daddy or Dad), had an intense dislike of people. She goes on, "He never talked to us, unless it was to criticize, intimidate or inflict some form of verbal abuse." He sometimes administered severe belt beatings, beyond the necessary punishable offence, if it indeed was an offense. Her childhood trauma led to a difficult life. But Dee's on a better path now. "If I had known that the problems in my life were due to a term referred to as child abuse earlier in my life," she says, "and if I'd received the appropriate counseling and therapy, then my life would have been much easier and better. Yet, I believe if I had not gone through the trauma of those years I would not be the person I am today." Now she's a person who is more accepting, compassionate and understanding of others who have suffered and still suffer from different types of abuse. "I thank the Lord Almighty for answering my prayers to be whole," Dee writes. "I am still recovering, but I feel a lot more whole today."

This week we take a journey into the past, an exploration of how things were done in “The Old Days.” For some of us when we consider things the way they were, sometimes it is with nostalgia or with a whimsical smile it brings warm fuzzy thoughts. For others of us it may make us cringe at the thought of chopping wood or hanging the laundry outside on a cold winter’s day. No matter the feelings we get when thoughts of these days are running through our mind. There is much to be said for “the way we used to do it.”

REFLECTING HIS GIFTS with SISSY ELLISON and Special Guest: PAMELA FLYNT KNIGHT

    in Christianity

My guest this week will be author and speaker Pamela Flynt Knight.  Pamela will share about her book: Living in the Fire.  How God manifests in our life through difficult circumstances providing strength and knowledge which sustains and changes us.  Many times we don't see the miracles of His love through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the midst of hardship, loss, and trial.  But afterwards we look back and far more appreciate how a loving and faithful God has worked in our lives and the lives of those around us.  Join me for what will prove to be a wonderful discussion with Pamela Flynt Knight.

Sissy Ellison is a talented song writer and musician.  Connect with Sissy on Facebook.  Call into the show and join the conversation.

Reflecting His Gifts on the Life Quest Christian Network is sponsored by the Wood's End Series by Alexandra Clair.  All books on line at Amazon or order from any bookstore.  Wood's End, The Year Between the Wood and Nonfiction - Discerning Spirits: Visionary Gifts in Practice
