It’s not always easy to identify youth on the streets through typical counts of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness. Homeless youth are less likely to spend time in the same places as homeless people who are in an older age range. They are often less willing to disclose that they’re experiencing homelessness or may not even identify as homeless. They also may work harder to try to blend in with peers who aren’t homeless. For the first time in 2013, the Department of Housing and Urban Development called for communities to conduct a youth-inclusive count that would include unaccompanied homeless youth, up to 24-years-old. That year in January, 46,924 unaccompanied homeless children and youth were counted. Given the difficulty of counting homeless youth, that estimate is likely an undercount. The Alliance estimates that during a year there are approximately 550,000 unaccompanied, single youth and young adults up to age 24 who experience a homelessness episode of longer than one week. Approximately 380,000 of those youth are under the age of 18. While these are rough estimate made using imperfect information, it is a good starting point from which communities and the federal government can begin to scale resources and interventions. We have a change in time for our show only for this Friday night Aug 22nd to 9:30pm CT so I could have my special guest speaker, the beautiful young lady who is lately being called "Miss Tennessee Teen USA ~ Alexis Mihalinec who will be addressing the topic of homelessness with me. Let's face it, sooner or later you will be stranded, on the side of a busy expressway, shopping mall, home, or even at work, in Metro Atlanta. There is no worse feeling for a mom or dad in need of immediate transportation for their family. Checker Classic Cab to the Rescue !
Mr. Orlando Perry, CEO of Checker Classic Cabs of Lithonia, Ga is a community oriented man. He started with a vehicle and a vision, to get his Metro Atlanta neighbors, to and fro, as its his passion to get people where they need to go safely and inexpensively.
However, it would not take an airport taxi trip to find out who Mr, Orlando Perry is, and why he carries a community torch for safe transportation. It is what he learned from his dad, Theodore Perry, and longtime family friend, Mr. Henry Mosley, of Jett Taxi, in Decatur, Ga.
Listen in to my national talk show, as he personally reveals to torch he wants to pass on ! He will discuss his Smart phone App to get a taxi to you 24/7 .
Fresh (or less-than-fresh, really) off the red eye in from LA, Corinne & Krystyna are sad to be back, but happy to be alive after an action-packed trip that included, spills, thrills...and Steve Urkel (WTF!?!). This week, the now bronzed babes of Sorry About Last Night interview fellow comic and man-in-the-midst-of-a-6 1/2-year-relationship-that's-really-a-15-year-relationship, MIKE CANNON! While Corinne seems truly perplexed about what Krystyna and Mike both do to keep their respective current relationships in tact, C and K can agree on one thing: they wouldn't mind getting their pussies shot with Mike's Cannon (amIright?!?!). The three comics talk teen years, public BJs, therapy, fighting, mind games, anal, how important it is to see more than just one dick in your lifetime and homosexual tendencies in straight dudes. LISTEN, LEARN...LA...
