    in Spirituality

The ORACLE brings insight, love, understanding and a genuine "feel good" atttide to the radio. She makes you feel good, like being hugged from the inside out.

This week The ORACLE Speaks about upcoming community events. If you have an event you would like for her to include in her broadcast today, send info to theoracle.cook@gmail.com. The show starts at 1 PM, so get your information to her by 12:30 PST to guarantee inclusion. Otherwise it will be mentioned in next week's show.

This week's Theme fro The ORACLE Presents Ten Pages of Nothing But The Truth. Volume III, Truth #1 LAUGH

Laugh with your G-D, with yourself

and with those you consider family and friends.

Laughter sooths the soul and ignites the spirit with

glee. To laugh is to live, as laughter lengthens your

life; helps maintain a healthy immune system by

    increasing endorphins.

Laugh till you cry. Laugh for no reason. Laugh

when you’re sad, laugh when you’re mad. Laugh for

nothing at all. Laugh like the child you were and the

    child you need to be.

Laugh at yourself when you least expect to, at those

times when laughter is the furthest thing from your

intentions. Laugh with abandonment to what’s

right, breaking protocol. Laugh so loud G-d  and

the angels get to enjoy the heavenly chorus of your

laughter, pure and innocent, wise and lived. Laugh

    laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh.

    Dolores Manzanares

    in History

Today my guest is Dolores Manzanares, who  will share her experiences working with bands in California

    Dolores Manzanare's Bio

1951 - 1960: Began singing in church choir, school chorus in grade school, middle school and high school.

1960 - 1965 Joined a band and we played mostly Rock and Oldies But Goodies (5 years)

    1965 - 1975 Took a break and raised a family.

1975 - 1990 Returned to college, took singing classes, and formed a band of my own, "The 2002 Band." I studied to become an educator and worked on week-ends with my band. I was the lead singer and we played throughout Southern California for various groups and organizations, fund-raisers, weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, hospital Christmas parties, New Year's Parties, and played for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios.

We played all genres of music from Oldies to Swing, ballads, latin music, polkas, tangos, waltzes, fox trot, rock and disco.

I was able to juggle raising my two boys, attending college, graduated in 1981 with my Bachelor's and a Teaching Credential in Bilingual Education, then, my Master's Degree, also in Bilingual Education in 1988. I continued to perform with my band until 1990, at which time, I felt I needed to just focus on my teaching career. I totaled 20 years as a vocalist and musical percussionist. I thoroughly enjoyed entertaining groups and organizations throughout Southern California.

I must say that Teaching and a Musical Career were two very rewarding careers for me. I was able to sing on television, radio, and record at a recording studio, at age 21. Those were exciting times for me.

Goddess Alive Radio with Author, Poet, Essayist, & Playwright Susan Griffin

    in Women

Susan Griffin is a poet, essayist, playwright and screenwriter. She was born in Los Angeles California in 1943, in the midst of the Second World War and the holocaust, and these events had a lasting effect on her thinking. The time she spent as a child in the High Sierras and along the coast of the Pacific Ocean also shaped her awareness. As she draws connections between the destruction of nature, the diminishment of women and racism, and traces the causes of war to denial in both private and public life, her work moves beyond the boundaries of form and perception. She is known for her innovative style. Her groundbreaking book Woman and Nature: The Roaring inside Her is an extended prose-poem. A Chorus of Stones: the Private Life of War, blends history and memoir as does Wrestling with the Angel of Democracy: On Being an American Citizen her most recent book (published by Trumpeter books in April, 2008.) This work explores the state of mind that engenders and sustains democracy.  Susan was also one of the Editors for Transforming Terror: Remembering the Soul of the World  released in 2011.  Connect further with Susan at SusanGriffin.com.

Goddess Alive Radio is the weekly Blogtalk Radio show for the MotherHouse of the Goddess and is hosted by Kimberly F. Moore & Tracey Paradiso of the MotherHouse of the Goddess. We focus on topics about Women’s Empowerment, Alternative Medicine, and Living Mythology – how the Goddess is moving through our lives today. Priestesses, Practitioners, Healers, and Shamans will be joining us to discuss their practices and experiences with the Goddess.

Series Part 2- FINDING YOUR RIGHT TONE- POPULAR GEAR FOR DEVELOPING YOUR TONE ST

    in Music

For quite some time, among a certain crowd at least, the current thang has been playing straight in: going from guitar straight to tube amp, with nothing more than a good cable in between. Everything else you add to the chain, apparently, just further emasculates you. Pedals? That’s cheating—especially when they’re of the overdrive variety and used to achieve your lead sound. The real man (or manly-toned woman) cranks up the amp and uses the guitar’s volume to achieve clean to crunch to all-out lead, and that’s that. Anything more is just, well, less; it’s a crutch, and you’re not a “real player” if you indulge it.

The music your electric guitar makes has as much to do with the equipment you use as the way you play. Oftentimes, rock 'n' roll is musically simplistic but technologically complex. By combining multiple effects pedals, a rock guitarist can make even simple, conventional songs sound powerful and unique.
