    in Politics

Are you sick and tired of paying tax on your hard earned income? The Federal Income Tax system in this country penalizes productivity and is a very regressive tax. The FairTaxGodfather Tax Reform hour is a weekly radio show at Tues. 9pm EDT designed to feature guest speakers and general public call-in guests that are interested in supporting the FairTax Bill, HR 25, S13, or any tax reform in general. Weekly the show is divided into a first half hour with special guests and current topics on tax reform, and the second half hour there is a "Great American Tax Panel" to discuss the fairtax and general tax reform and take caller questions. The objective of the show is to increase the public knowledge and understanding of the FairTax legislation and to encourage listeners to call their elected representatives and ask them to support tax reform and the Fair Tax Bill. All discussion will be open and fair, just like the FairTax! To defray the costs of this program I accept donations to my PayPal account fairtaxgodfather@yahoo.com. Any amount will help and you can use a credit card on PayPal. Thank you! Rich (The FairTaxGodfather)

LRO: State Tax Reform - The Good, Bad, and Kasich

    in Politics

Kasich has been beaten-up by both the Left and the Right on tax reform.  The Ohio GOP's efforts to move more of the burden to local government while reducing the state income tax has not come without a political and fiscal price tag.

Helping us make sense of it all is Will Upton of Americans for Tax Reform.  Hosts Bill Yarbrough and Scott Pettigrew welcome Will as a native Ohioan who specializes in state level tax refrom advocacy.

    in Finance

With many of the major wedge issues resolved by the recent rulings from the U-S Supreme Court - we now head into the 2016 presidential election cycle with two looming unresolved issues. Immigration and Tax Reform.

Part of the tax reform discussion involves a so called 'Flat Tax'. But can it work?

"Behind all the chatter about a flat tax are some very flawed assumptions", says tax pro and owner of the Happy Tax franchise Mario Costanz. "I think if you look at it closely it has the potential of doing more harm than good".

FAMILY COURT RESPONSES TO INCEST AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN CUSTODY DISPUTES

    in Current Events

FAMILY COURT RESPONSES TO INCEST AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN CUSTODY DISPUTES

The Boston Globe just ran a story about a little girl who, for five years, was forced by the courts to live with the father who she said was sexually abusing her.  The girl’s mother believed the child, and took her to the doctor, then to the psychologist, and everyone believed the girl. Then they got to the courts and that’s where the child’s life hit a very sad bottom.

Even sadder:  this is happening all the time. Thousands of times. Thousands of children.

What is going on with a court system that forces children to be exposed and at risk by those who are abusing them?

Maralee McLean is a child advocate, protective parent, domestic violence expert, and author of PROSECUTED BUT NOT SILENCED: Courtroom Reform for Sexually Abused Children. Her work has been published in the ABA Child Law Journal, Women’s E-News and other publications on the problems of family courts not protecting abused children. She organized a National Rally of Mothers at the Colorado State Capitol and has been involved in legislative work that spans over two decades.  She testified before Congress to promote judicial accountability to better protect sexually abused children’s rights in our courts. Maralee’s story has been covered by many media outlets and internationally on CNN.

Join us as we talk about the courts’ response to sexual abuse of children in custody disputes.

    Saturday High Noon

    in Politics

    SATURDAY HIGH NOON

What's the matter with Kansas? "The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy recently reported that Kansas has the ninth-most unfair tax system in the county.  A Kansan earning $47,700 a year pays 9.5 percent of income in state and local taxes; but someone earning $1,191,700 pays an effective rate of just 3.6 percent."

So much for the 'trickle down' libertarian economic theories masterminded by the Wichita plutocrats Charles & David Koch; as implemented by Gov. Sam Brownback and his cronies in the state legislature.

    Program Summary: Feb. 13, 2016

Hear Doug Annstaedt, executive director of the Kansas Press Association on open meeting law reforms before the Kansas state legilature.

2nd Hour - Hear the latest (released for distribution 20 Feb. 2015) from investigative reporter, Tony Gosling & "Old Labour" Martin Summer as they host from Bristol's community radio station the "Friday Drivetime" show.

It's Tax Time. What You Need To Know About Income Tax Identity Theft

    in Technology

Join Jim Blue and Steve Weisman in a discussion on how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of income tax identity theft.

It's tax time and we all know that income tax identity theft is a major problem.  The most common way that income tax identity theft occurs is when the identity thief files an income tax return using his or her victim’s Social Security number along with a counterfeit W-2 that indicates a large refund is due.

In his most recent article in USA Today, Steve wrote "According to the General Accountability Office (GAO), the IRS paid out 5.8 billion dollars in bogus refunds to identity thieves for the tax year 2013 and, according to the GAO the real figure is probably significantly higher because of the difficulty of knowing how much income tax fraud remains undetected.
But it is not as bad as you think. It is worse".

Steve Weisman is a lawyer, a professor at Bentley University and one of the country's leading experts in scams and identity theft. He writes the daily blog scamicide.com, where he provides daily update information about the latest scams. His new book is Identity Theft Alert.
