Upon entering the 2014 NFL season, many believed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a playoff team. Well last I checked, 2 wins in a 16-game season doesn't get you anywhere but most likely last place in your division. I actually thought they would be better than 4 wins in 2013, & they were awfully worse. & as a result, they landed the #1 overall pick in the 2015 Draft & took highly touted quarterback from their inner state, Jameis Winston, who's known for big plays & big trouble. Last year was the first year Lovie Smith took over as head coach & you would've thought the brotha might had regretted such a decision. But this team has talent on both sides of the ball. Second year wide receiver Mike Evans has even bigger expectations this year after being part of arguably the biggest wide receiver draft class in league history. Add the likes of Vincent Jackson, Gerald McCoy, George Johnson (back w/ team after being traded from Detroit), & Chris Conte (free agent pickup form Chicago), this Tampa team has some pieces to compete in what I believe will be a competitive division...not saying they'll win, but all 4 teams have proven they can hang w/ each other in division play for the most part. But I'm anxious to see what Winston will look like during his rookie campaign, assuming he's named the official started before regular season play (he most likely will be if healthy & productive enough). This team should be better than 2 wins. They can't get worse. But can this roster REALLY compete in the NFC South? I'm not so sure they can but tune in to another team report coverage of "The Rocket Sports Breakdown" Wednesday morning @ 9:30am. Rocket Nation, get ready for a power trip.
In this episode of The Red Light Sports Ramble, presented by The Red Light Sports Network, Evan Witalison and Troy Otradovec will preview the NFC South. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the number one overall selection, who will they select? The Atlanta Falcons have a new coaching staff, will this help Matt Ryan? The New Orleans Saints are trying to rebound and get back to the playoffs. Do the Carolina Panthers have enough to continue building and make a deeper playoff run? Listen in and call the show.
On this episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, host and senior staff writer Ricky Keeler gives his take on what is going on with the New York Yankees this week in spring training, including the latest injury to Jacoby Ellsbury, the second start of the spring for Masahiro Tanaka, as well as CC Sabathia's and Andrew Bailey's spring training debuts.
At 9:05 PM ET, Joey Saunders of Rays Colored Glasses joins the show to help finish up our State of the AL East series by previewing the 2015 Tampa Bay Rays. This season, the Rays will have a new manager in Kevin Cash as well as a new GM with Joe Maddon and Andrew Friedman both with new teams. Plus, the Rays have a ton of injuries to their starting rotation. Who will be the starter on Opening Day? Finally, we will discuss Tampa's newest acquisitions this winter in Asdrubal Cabrera and Steven Souza Jr.
