January Jones - Loss of A Child

    in Family

January Jones - Loss of A Child

Donna Mebane grew up wanting to be two things: a mother and a writer. She first became a mom and then a writer after the death of her youngest child, Emma.

While Donna has had numerous writing experiences over the years, she became a published author after she wrote Tomorrow Comes as a way of envisioning a future for her 19-year-old daughter who went to sleep one night and never woke up.

She calls Tomorrow Comes a work of “reality fiction” because it captures the reality of grief that family and friends endured after Emma died at the same time that it creates an enchanting fictional world of AFTER.

CR Gibbs - If The Earliest Known Evidence of Mankind Was Uncovered In Africa...?

    in Education

Host Historian CR Gibbs discusses  "If The Earliest Known Evidence of Mankind Was Uncovered In Africa Why Isn't History Taught From That Point On?" "Until Lions Have Their Own Historians, Tales of the Hunt Shall Always Glorify the Hunter” unknown. A group of restless men atop a ridge in the Afar desert of Ethiopia. A few of them are pacing back and forth, straining to see if they can spot fragments of beige bone in the reddish-brown rubble below, as eager to start their search as children at an Easter egg hunt. At the bottom of the hill is a 25-foot-long cairn of black rocks erected in the style of an Afar grave, so large it looks like a monument to a fallen hero. And in a way it is. Tim White and his colleagues assembled it to mark the place where they first found traces, in 1994, of “Ardi,” a female who lived 4.4 million years ago. Her skeleton has been described as one of the most important discoveries of the past century, and she is changing basic ideas about how our earliest ancestors looked and moved. In addition to Ardi, a possible direct ancestor, it is possible here to find hominid fossils from as recently as 160,000 years ago—an early Homo sapiens like us—all the way back to Ardipithecus kadabba, one of the earliest known hominids, who lived almost six million years ago. At last count, the Middle Awash project, which takes its name from this patch of the Afar desert and includes 70 scientists from 18 nations, has found 300 specimens from seven different hominid species that lived here one after the other.

Talking In Circles: David Ragan to Joe Gibbs Racing, Nemechek to Front Row

    in Sports

Tonight on Talking in Circles: Front Row Motorsports driver David Ragan is going to Joe Gibbs Racing for the immediate future. Ragan will be in the car this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He was chosen over Erik Jones and Matt Crafton. Jones will drive No. 54 car NXS car for JGR. Do we see Jones? Is Ford right in letting him do this? Is FRM right?

Joe Nemechek will replace Ragan at Front Row Motorsports for this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. No word on the driver past Atlanta Motor Speedway for the No. 34.

Also Regan Smith will drive the No. 41 Chevrolet this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. No word on future past Atlanta.

John Harlow from BeyondTheFlag.com joins the show to add his opinions to the week's events.

Derrike Cope and Tanner Berryhill complained about the qualifying at Daytona and saying that it hurt the small teams on the plate tracks. Is single car runs the only solution?

Davey Allison would have been 54 years old today. If he were still alive today, How would the sport be changed?

    Danica Patrick's penalty. Written warning?

Dash4Cash is back. Cool deal? Wish we saw something like this in Cup?

Truck penalty. 20 and 29 trucks had loose screws.
