Beantown Pals favorites Patricia Shih and Katherine Dines join Tom Hayes in another great episode of Beantown Pals.
Patricia Shih wrote her first song at age 12 and hasn't stopped since. At the age of 15, she signed a recording and management contract with Unicorn Records of Washington, D.C. as half of a duo. This marked the start of her professional career. A 45 RPM record was released a year later, and numerous, T.V., radio, concert and club performances followed. Included are an international radio broadcast on the Voice of America and appearances at the legendary Cellar Door, where the duo was runner-up to Emmy Lou Harris in the competitive "Best of the Hoots." Several years later, Ms. Shih began her solo career in California, notably on her own PBS special Patty Shih - Music from the Gallery. Soon after, she returned to the east coast and settled in Huntington, N.Y.
Katherine Dines is an award-winning children’s songwriter, recording and teaching artist who performs throughout the world. An advocate for literacy, the arts and education, Katherine serves on several national boards and presents keynote addresses at early childhood and library conferences. Honor Thy Author Friday Spotlight
Authors: Yandy B and Unique
Lissha Mrs Toni
Author Unique L. Atkinson is 22 years old and was born and raised in Mississippi. At the age of 3 she was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) so she couldn’t partake in many activities that other children got into. Her passion for writing first appeared when she was a small child. She would write church songs and make little skits . As she got older she explored many other artistic outlets such as painting and drawing. In the summer of 2012 she wrote her own book. In January 2014, she submitted her work to Tammy Capri and the rest is history in the making.
Miyah better known as Author Yandy B, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.Growing up as an only child writing became her way of releasing her feelings but before she became a writer she was an avid reader, who was turned out by the urban fiction genre with author's such as Sistah Soulja, Nikki Turner, Terri Woods, Carl Webber, Omar Tyree just to name a few of my favorite by showing her their talents on paper made her feel like she could do anything she set her mind to. In school she always carried a composition book or notebook passing it around when the teacher wasn't looking so that her friends could read what she was working on. People always encouraged her to publish a book so she did and is very proud of her literary accomplishment.
