You know the old saying: mistakes happen. They are part of the human process of living. We can’t avoid them.
The BIG question is: what do we do, or better yet, what do YOU do, when you make a mistake? Do you blame your mistake on someone or something else? If you use “blame” tactics, then perhaps it is time to double-check your maturity. Are you able to take responsibility, in a mature fashion, for your mistakes?
It doesn’t matter how the mistake occurred. What matters is that you take responsibility for making the mistake. When a person is adult enough to “own-up” to a mistake, then that person is viewed as trustworthy. That same person is able to talk about the mistake and make it right.
Listen as Dr. Joan discusses why it is important to step up to the plate and admit you missed the boat. By doing so, find out how easy it is to get aboard the boat and sit down to a full plate of delicious mashed potatoes.
Mistakes happen. Take control of your own mistakes.
Are you experiencing relationship issues at home, at work, or at play? Tune in to hear Dr. Joan describe alternative solutions. Follow along as she presents keys for harmony.
A portion of each program is devoted to the reading of Dr. Joan's published stories about human disputes. She is currently reading from her first novel Gra Im Thu! I Love You! The story is about two Irish families who find themselves intermarrying, even though they are poles apart in the areas of religion and politics. Tune in and listen to the story, as the O'Grady and Gwynn families learn to solve their potato encounters and develop a method for making delicious mashed potatoes together. Find out how diversity and harmony can live in the same house.
This week we will be talking about Progress. First don’t confuse progress with measurement. You measure to help you get progress and understand patterns of behavior. Progress is about understanding what success looks like so you know it when you see it. Recognizing the progress is how you build energy and momentum to keep yourself moving forward. In my experience this is an underused muscle for most. Most people either “Don’t have time for it” or worse, aren't even aware of the progress. So again progress can be the RESULT of measurement they are quite different. Progress is about recognizing yourself for what you have accomplished. It centers on staying focused on your results you have achieved and rewardingyourself and others for moving closer to your result. Keep in mind that moving closer can also occur when an undesirable result occurs. No matter the result if progress is used properly it will move you forward faster to the result you want. This aspect of progress is often ignored. In my framework of I know this one of the steps to master are about creating habits. Well several studies have shown that the most effective way to create permanent habits is through positive reinforcement. This week I am honored to be joined by Roy Saunderson, an expert in corporate recognition.

Friday, August 15th, my guest is author Natalie H. Luke. Natalie will be chatting with me about her new book, Unceiling Your Career: How to Shatter Barriers and Transform Your Career At Any Age.
About the book:
UnCeiling Your Career
How to Shatter Barriers and Transform Your Career at Any Age
Are you fed up with people half as smart as you getting all the lucky breaks? Imagine taking command of your career and finally get the rewards you deserve? Find out exactly how to take control of your career, be recognized, and get the position you want. Most women hit career barriers because they keep their head down and work hard, thinking that they’ll be noticed and rewarded. If you are doing this, the downside is that you will wait a long time to get to where you want.
Women also think that they have to be perfect or know how exactly how to do the job before going for a promotion. The problem of waiting is that you are underestimating your talent and skills before making a career change or going for the promotion you're looking for. Women also keep themselves small by conning themselves into thinking they should just be happy to have a job. If you're just settling for work that is not aligned with your passion because you're "just be happy to have a job" you'll be less fulfilled, have fewer career opportunities and will be less respected at work.
About the author:
Natalie's passion is to help others develop so that they can give the best of themselves in the working environment while also having a balanced life. As a corporate trainer for a fortune 100 company, Natalie loves to give concise structure to help people focus on what is most important. Her goal is to help others accelerate their results both at work and at home.
