This week on Franchise Today, host Brendan Major is joined by Jonathan Barnett, President of Oxi Fresh Franchising Company. Jon joins us to talk about how Oxi Fresh has created systems that have contributed to their growth and position as a top franchise company in America. They'll discuss each of eight systems that focus on everything from marketing and branding to multi-unit simplicity systems.
About Our Guest
Jonathan Barnett has always been an entrepreneur - staring a business as a little kid, opening a fireworks chain called Johnny B’s while in college, even owning a minor league basketball team while earning his Masters. It was when he founded Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning in 2006 that Jonathan really exploded onto the business scene (thankfully that didn’t happen with Johnny B’s fireworks). Jonathan started Oxi Fresh shortly after earning his MBA and was committed to the idea of making a truly modern franchising company. Over the course of eight years, he has done just that, combining a revolutionary cleaning system with modern business practices in order to create a successful company.
Since 2006, Oxi Fresh has expanded to over 250 franchises across United States and Canada. It’s been recognized dozens of times by Entrepreneur Magazine, Inc. Magazine, the Franchise Times, and the Franchise Business Review. Oxi Fresh has even been named the #3 Top Franchise in America by Forbes Magazine.
In the world of business, finding customers is the key to success. Companies today work very hard and spend great deals of time and money on obtaining new customers. One very simple and effective way for companies to get additional customers without the normal time and expense involved is to build a solid referral system. Think about this for a moment: The last time you required a doctor or perhaps an auto mechanic, did you simply look them up in the phone book? Probably not. You likely asked around and got some names from friends and associates. This is the power of referral systems at work.
According to Forbes, referral networks are helping more and more people land solid leads, and referral groups are popping up all over the place. Why are referrals so effective? For a few reasons: The first reason is commonality. The fact that you and someone else share something in common such as an acquaintance makes the process of breaking the ice that much easier. The second reason is endorsement. The fact that someone else has passed along your name implies their endorsement whether intentional or not.
One must differentiate between clients, customers and advocates. A client does business with you regularly and gives you an occasional referral; a customer just does business with you while an advocate supplies you with an ongoing supply of referrals. Obviously, a business will want to have as many advocates out there as possible. Your goal should be to obtain as many advocates as you can!
Never be afraid to ask for referrals. Make your clients a valuable part of your ongoing business efforts by asking for their help. Ask them to refer customers to you if they like your work. Do great work and provide great service, ask for more referrals, and business will take care of itself!
The key for busy mompreneurs to squeeze more productivity out of a tight schedule are great systems.

It really is a big hard world that we live in, and there is any number of bad things that can happen at any time. So, for this week’s show, we’ll talk about preparing for anything by simply preparing for a loss of systems of support. Once you get that, then preparing for any emergency ranging from a simple power outage to a total societal collapse by layering your preps.

Mukilteo, WA – In the 21st century, our society faces critical problems regarding its sustainability. Population growth and aging, shortage of clean water, diminishing energy sources, corruption on rise, failing institutes, failing states, the increasing gap between rich and poor, and environmental issues are critical factors related to various societal systems, which are essential for sustainability.
In order to develop solutions for these great challenges and societal problems, we need a framework and models that are as complex as reality, a holistic approach that integrates any variable that affects a societal system in use to help engineer a more sustainable society.
The World Organization of Societal Systems Engineers (WOSSE) claims to have developed such a framework that integrates various models for sustainable societal systems development. Dr. Dieter Feldmann and his partner Naseer A. Choudhry, both from WOSSE, have developed the methodology of Societal Systems Engineering to address the problems of societal and business sustainability in today’s era of dynamic globalization.
“All the elements which affect business as well as societal sustainability are constantly in flux, that’s why we call it the dynamics of globalization,” says Dr. Feldmann. “The mistake many people make is they wish to be stable, not dynamic, because dynamics are too difficult to digest and predict.”
WOSSE’s model can be applied to solve societal systems problems, including sustainability, addressing socio-economic, socio-ecological, socio-technological and socio-cultural aspects, all critical for a sustainable society in the age of global commonwealth.
Have you ever felt happy and sad at the same time? Wanted to do something and not wanted to in the same moment? If so, then you have experienced what Internal Family Systems calls the sub-personalities that we all have inside. Each has its own perspective, interests, memories and viewpoints, and sometimes they are in harmony but sometimes they conflict with one another. IFS believes that every “part” has an important role to play and can be productive and healthy. They can also take on extreme roles when traumatized. With love, acceptance, and some good communication between those parts, they can all come into healthy relationship inside ourselves. This episode will focus on how Internal Family Systems combined with Christian spirituality can bring deep healing. Our special guest, author, therapist, and pastor Mary Steege will be sharing how to do just that on Healing the Inner Child, Part 8.

Douglas Mallette, former NASA subcontractor and systems engineer joins ZM Global to discuss his efforts to found a company dealing in next-gen farming to tangibly solve the world food issue. The aim of Cybernated Farm Systems (CFS) is to provide locally vertically grown fresh food using aquaponics. Saving space, using fewer resources and "doing more with less" is the key to global sustainable decentralized food production. Doug has als created the "SusPlus" Initiative, a free standard designed not only to be sustainable, but to encourage a sort of "reverse pollution", to leave the environment better than prior to deployment of an industrial or production operation.
Thunderclap campaign for CFS runs until April 11th! Support this project for free here: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/9645-cybernated-farm-systems
