    THE NOTES BEHIND THE MUSIC

    in Entertainment

Legendary Eliot Lewis keyboard player from Hall & Oats

Eliot Lewis (born March 10, 1962) is an American rock, R&B and soul singer, keyboardist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work with Average White Band (1989-2002) and Hall & Oates (2003-present). Lewis is also an integral part of Live From Daryl's House, a monthly Internet-based show hosted by Daryl Hall that is now carried by several television and cable networks across the United States.Contents

Lewis grew up in Norwalk, CT, the youngest of three children, in what he describes as a very musical environment. Although his mother was a classical pianist, Lewis’ first instrument was the drums, which he discovered at age 10. When he was 12 years old, he formed his first band, Take Off, with three childhood friends. The father of Take Off’s bass player worked for several major record labels and was instrumental in exposing young Eliot to many of the artists of the day, including The Who, Elton John, and Alice Cooper. He even arranged a jam session for the boys at his house with Peter Frampton.

At age 16, Lewis picked up the guitar and began writing his own songs. A few years later, he taught himself keyboards and bass, and learned to program synthesizers. Today, Lewis plays five instruments, and is a completely self-contained songwriter and musician. In his early 20s, Lewis was introduced to Dan Hartman, a singer, songwriter, and record producer responsible for hits such as "Free Ride," "Relight My Fire," and "I Can Dream About You." Lewis began working with Hartman, like Joe Cocker’s Unchain My Heart and Tina Turner’s Simply the Best.

VENTENNER -CURVY METALHEAD SHOW - TUESDAY, AUGUST 8 2014 - 12:00 pm PST

    in Radio

Ventenner is a UK band who is revenging the connection between Hard Rock and the darker Alternative. The dark altrock/industrial references on the upcoming release  ‘Distorture’    points dart from Nine Inch Nailsto Gary Numan, Depece Mode, Atari Teenage Riot with hints of early Marilyn Manson and Smashing Pumpkins also there. Following on from 2012s electronic ‘This Is the Reason’, ‘Distorture’ is a far more titanic beast; the experimenting with synthesizers is still there but the added full band treatment gives it something rawer, something a little more dangerous.

Our guest is Chris Ankin: Sound-Artist, Composer, Poet, Lyricist and Writer. Chris has been writing Horror stories, poems and lyrics from an early age, which developed into an interest in Music in the early 1980's. He joined and played synthesizers in several local bands, and in 1983 he won a Musician's Union local band competition with the band "Trail of Tears". The first prize was a day in a recording studio. His interest in recording was spawned.

Now using a home made recording studio he concentrates on composing and recording music on a semi-professional basis, primarily for in-house company videos, but also includes a diverse range of other projects.

In 2000 after a period of significant sight-loss, he began attending artistic workshops as a participant at "Inter-Action MK" which included Mosaic, Photography, Drama and Film-making.

In 2007 he was involved in the ‘Ways of Seeing’ project, which examined in an artistic manner the access issues for VIP’s to Retail, Cultural and Travel.
