How many of the 16 teams in the NBA Playoffs have a legitimate shot at the championship?
It is a fair question, and it was posed to me this morning on NBC Sports Radio by host Erik Kuselias on NBC Sports Radio. Just to give you a preview, I did not answer "Trail Blazers," "Pelicans" or "Celtics." But I did give an answer that reflects what an odd situation we have on our hands after the first two days of the NBA Playoffs.
Clearly, the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs are both championship worthy. And just as clearly, one of those teams is going to be watching the second round of the playoffs from their sofas. After two days of postseason basketball, it is not unfair to say that the only series worth your while is the one taking place between the Nos. 3 and 6 seeds in the West -- the two teams that finished the regular season with the strongest finishing kicks.
But which team in the other seven series has a legitimate shot to make these NBA playoffs a bit more interesting?
Give a listen and I'll provide you with an answer.

From kid programmer in 1971 to Forbes cover story in 2003, Joy, Inc. author Richard Sheridan (U-M grad BS Computer Science '80, MS Computer Engineering '82) has never shied from challenges, opportunities nor the limelight. While his focus has always been around technology, his passion is actually process, teamwork and organizational design, with one inordinately popular goal: the Business Value of Joy! Sheridan is an avid reader and historian, and his software design and development team at Menlo Innovations didn't invent a new culture, but copied an old one ... Edison's Menlo Park New Jersey lab. Henry Ford's recreation of the Menlo Park Lab in Greenfield Village was a childhood inspiration!

KIM SHERIDAN: “Even if you don’t have pets, this episode teaches a bundle about life after death. Do animals go to the afterlife? What evidence exists for it? And what signs and signals can our departed pets send us from the spirit world? These are the questions I discuss with Kim Sheridan, author of Animals And The Afterlife. Kim also answers: Do our pets in spirit watch over and guide us? How do they feel about us getting a new pet? And can they return again as a future pet? We also talk about euthanasia, the purpose of a pet’s life, and animal communication. Kim proved to be a smart and interesting expert on the afterlife with some brilliant spiritual insights. Very cool episode!” ~ Bob Olson, Afterlife TV

Four games of the Western Conference Finals are in the books, and the Warriors lead the Rockets by a 3-1 margin. That overall mark may not seem surprising, but the route the series has taken to get there has been a bit bizarre.
For two games, the teams appeared almost evenly matched, with Stephen Curry and James Harden — the league’s top two finishers in MVP voting — trading blow for blow in two games that went down to the wire in Oakland.
Then in Game 3, the Warriors absolutely blew the doors off of Houston, grabbing a commanding 3-0 series lead by virtue of a 35-point beatdown in Toyota Center.
But the Game 4 that many predicted would be Golden State’s title coronation for the Western Conference? Instead, the Rockets climbed off the mat in stunning fashion, racing out to a record-setting 45-point first quarter and cruising to a 128-115 victory to extend the series. The Rockets, now 4-0 against elimination in these playoffs, became just the second team in NBA history to win four straight elimination games by double digits in the same postseason.
Ben DuBose of Sheridan Hoops is joined by Josh Reese of CBS Radio in Houston to break it all down.
Just how historically great have Curry and Harden been?
How scary was Curry's Game 4 injury scare?[/
Was not suspending Dwight Howard for his Game 4 elbow the right call?
Did Klay Thompson find himself during Curry’s brief Game 4 absence?
Who is the X-factor for the Rockets after Harden and Howard?
Does Steve Kerr need to make any significant adjustment for the Warriors?
Who wins Game 5?

Rod Thorn, the NBA's dean of discipline, has a tough decision to make. Should Dwight Howard's elbowing foul against Andrew Bogut from Game 4 of the Western Conference finals be upgraded to a flagrant-2, which would force Howard to miss Game 5.
The precedent is there, whether it was Al Horford getting ejected from Game 3 of the Atlanta-Cleveland series or J.R. Smith getting suspended two games for elbowing Jae Crowder of Boston during the first round.
Elbows to the head are a serious matter .... but so, too, is keeping the NBA playoffs interesting ... and keeping them on the air for as many days as possible before everything shuts down for a week prior to the start of the NBA Finals. All in all, this year's playoffs have not been great.
Let's face it ... the Rockets probably have no shot whatsoever in Game 5 if Howard is suspended.
And let's face this, too: The NBA has a vested interest in having a competitive Game 5 in Oakland, whether or not the Rockets can extend it to a Game 6.
So what do I expect Thorn to do? And how will that news be, ahem, announced?
The answers come in this podcast with Newy Scruggs on NBCSports Radio early Tuesday morning.
James Harden scored a playoff career-high 45 points to help the Houston Rockets avoid elimination in Game 4 against the Golden State Warriors. During the game, Stephen Curry took a hard and awkward fall resulting in a head contusion as the basketball world held its collective breath.
Meanwhile, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are one win away from advancing to the NBA Finals without Kevin Love, and with Kyrie Irving limited with a knee injury. On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks lost a heartbreaking Game 3 and are on the brink of elimination.
With that in mind, Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.com joined ESPN Radio host Freddie Coleman to discuss the state of each series and other topics. Is Harden a superstar? Why did Curry return to the game with a head contusion? Is Matthew Dellavedova a dirty player?
