Following the previous episode of changing Mental Healthcare in America, we will next discuss th 6 goals for changing our mental Healthcare system according to President Bush- New Freedom Commission. We will also discuss how peer specialist can have a role in the change.
Rebecca Pearce is responsible for driving the sustainability agenda in the EMEA region for CBRE, the worlds largest property services company. Rebecca leads sustainability strategy development and implementation, aligning their specialist teams across the region and embedding sustainability across the business to support clients throughout the property lifecycle. Rebecca works across all CBRE teams to create practical sustainability strategies for their clients to add value to their portfolio and their business. She also oversees the company’s regional corporate responsibility policy and commitments to environmental sustainability.
Rebecca is a qualified Architect, educated in Australia and UK, and has considerable international experience in the construction and property sector. She joined CBRE EMEA after 3.5 years in CBRE’s Pacific region where she established and headed up client sustainability services, and drove many of the company’s corporate commitments. Under her direction, CBRE New Zealand was awarded “Sustainability Initiative of the Year” at the RICS New Zealand Awards 2012.

co-leadership of Westpac Banking Corporation’s Sustainability Strategy
Director of a medium sized Architecture practice in UK and subsequent leadership roles in architecture in Australia
In 2012 Rebecca was recognized with the Baulderstone Award for Contribution to Sustainability by the National Association of Women in Construction (Australia).
Rebecca is married and lives with her husband in London.
Join our discussion as we analyze the problems surrounding our healthcare system in the United States. We will discuss topics such as the rising cost in medical care, the lack of physician available, cost of prescription drugs, the major difference in a one payor system and universal care. Also we will discuss billing methods and copays, deductibles and co-insurance. We hope to educate the public on healthcare procedures and laws and hopefully this will lead us towards a better healthcare system.
Today Laura Theodore, the Jazzy Vegetarian welcomes Dr. Richard Oppenlander author of Food Choice and Sustainability and Comfortably Unaware: Global Depletion and Food Choice Responsibility. We’ll discuss responsible food choices and how these choices impact our environment! Dr. Richard Oppenlander is a sustainability consultant, researcher, and author whose award winning book, Comfortably Unaware has been endorsed by Ellen DeGeneres, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Dr. Neal Barnard. Dr. Oppenlander's newest book titled, Food Choice and Sustainability: Why Buying Local, Eating Less Meat, and Taking Baby Steps Won’t Work, has won the 2014 International Book Award and the 2014 Green Book Festival Award. Dr. Oppenlander is a lecturer on food choice and how it relates to sustainability and served as the lead consultant for two new full-length environmental documentary films. He also serves as an advisor to world hunger projects in developing countries and with municipalities in the U.S. Dr. Oppenlander has spent the past 40 years studying the effects food choices have on our planet and on us. He started an organic plant based food company, operates an animal rescue sanctuary (with his wife Jill), and is the founder of the non-profit organization, Inspire Awareness Now.
Enjoy us for this first of many discussions revolving around ecological sustainability, the indigenous mind, permaculture, eco-phenomenology & the treatment of non-human animals. In so doing we shall look at these issues from the standpoints of phenomenology, psychoanalysis, and critical theory, amongst others.
Our culture is in need of an overhaul. So much of our infrastructure is based on just a few sources for our most critical needs. To build a new paradigm based on self sustainability is to set our selves free.
There is so much opportunity for providing our culture more choices. Many of us are here to do just that. Join us as we discuss the nature of self sustainability. The next chapter in our human freedom.
