After participating with the Black Panthers, and attending Woodstock, Laura moved into Peoples Temple in California in 1970, and was an active and enthusiastic member until the day it ended. She moved to Guyana in March 1977. She frequently traveled between Georgetown and Jonestown, a 24-hour boat ride, but moved into Jonestown in October 1978. Laura’s survival was a fluke.
It took twenty years for Laura to rebuild her life and have the determination to research this tragedy. The first ten years were spent in Synanon. Then, she reunited with many of the other survivors to put the pieces together and to get some understanding. After ten years she wrote her autobiography.
Today, Laura is a bilingual teacher, a member of ReadLocal San Diego, on the Speakers’ Bureau of The Jonestown Institute, a bilingual international speaker, a Quaker, and a Board Member of the Communal Studies Association. She is interviewed often by national and international media, most recently on television, internet and radio programs.

This is about how M.S. changed my life.
MS is the most debilitating neurological disease. When I discovered that I was diagnosed with it, it changed my life. I only knew to continue approaching life the way I always had: as a survivor! That does not imply that I did not make mistakes along the way - as people do when the road they thought they were taking in their life turns into a new one. Through friendship, family, spirituality, and the many MS role models I had, I began to beat back the monster of this disease. Their in, I opened up my life to a journey of adventure: Learning things any normal person can do to enhance their lives after MS&brain injury. Id love it if you'd join me in my journey; where we all can learn to be better versions of ourselves!
Scott and Phil return this week and will recap the WWE Survivor Series in the first hour and talk about possiblities that WWE could go forward.
Also, Impact Wrestling and Ring Of Honor Wrestling will be moving off of Destination America already, but where will they end up?
In hour number two Phil will recap the great fight between Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez, and what happens next for them.
All and all it should be another great show for your crew here at Combat Corner.
Tonight we will discuss the nature of the mind, body and soul before and after any trauma. How to recognize your true feelings and what steps one can take towards acceptance and survival. Hi, my name is Isis Serran-Pagan. I am a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) survivor. I join the faces of all that go through daily challenges, struggles and as well as accomplishments living with a brain injury. Joining the voices of inspiration, support and awareness to all those struggling to find their "new normal'. Let's find it together! Join me, to listen and be part of the discusion. I look forward to hearing from you too!
Ms. Flora Carter was borne on May 22, 1950. She was raised with the best of both worlds and was able to experience the American and African culture growing up as her mother was from North Carolina and her dad was from Sierra Leone, Africa. Her mom died when she was 11 and her dad raised her. This resulted in Flor starting her independence early at age 17. Flor is a product of the District of Columbia Public School system and attended college at Washington Technical Institute. She has always been a hard working person which was instilled early by her dad. She started working in middle school, at the nurses' office at school and has worked in the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Energy, the Justice Department and several contracting positions. She retired in 2013 from International Monetary Fund where she worked in record management. She has on daughter and two granddaughters.
Flora fought to overcome verbal, physical, financial, and sexual abuse. She has worked to help others understand and know that domestic violence is a choice that should not be made. She says, "The cycle must be broken. I am not a victim, but victorious, I am a survivor. I now educate and advocate with perons to end the cycle."
Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery host of The Man In The Mirror and Co-Host Nichelle Johnson as we welcome this dynamic survivor to The Man In The Mirror platform. She'll tell us more about her story, and share with us how the Lord is now using her to help stop domestic violence one victim at a time. We'll find out how she helps turn them from victims to victors and become as she says victorious. Just a reminder that Domestic Violence Is Real!!!
