WOI Presents Writer's Cafe with Willow Cross

    in Writing

On this episode of Writer's Cafe author Juila Lake Mills will be joining Willow to discuss all things writing!  The show will air Friday June 5th at 10 am EST.

    Author Bio:  Julia Lake Mills

I am a sarcastic, southern woman that would rather spend all day laughing than a minute crying. I have 2 of the most amazing daughters ever created, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading. I decided to write the stories running through my brain and am having an absolute blast!! I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat, by myself at 4 and have been hooked ever since. I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down. I know for a fact that all heroes in all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my hero, my dad! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance. I am still working on my story but can guarantee you that it will contain as love and laughter as I can cram into it!!!!! Dare to Dream! Have the Strength to Try EVERYTHING! Never Look Back!

LIVE! with Cathi---For the LOVE of Speaking!

    in Fitness

It's been said most people will do anything to avoid PUBLIC SPEAKING!

As with any journey, a series of steps must be followed to achieve your dream of SPEAKING.  First, admit that you are PETRIFIED, but the good news is you're not alone.  There's help.

I'm a multi-medio Radio/Award Winning TV Talk Show Host/Producer/Performing Artist.  May I share with you my formula for effective speaking, that's after I got over the fear of public speaking.  When I began my speaking career, my knees would shake, I MEAN SHAKE.  My voice would tighten up and then miraculously one day I looked out into the audience and decided to focus on one person and present only to that person.  It helped to shut-out the other hundreds and I was on my way to controlling any jitters.

Introducing TOASTMASTERS.  I joined, a perfect avenue for me to hone my speaking to learn and to share.

Oh, how wonder is the human voice...etc.

    Own your message...etc.

Breathe it, live it, sleep it...

    Suess, Shakespeare, Longfellow...etc.

Your VOICE defines who you are...etc.

Having been a cook/chef for more than 30 years before going into real estate and insurance I was a family man from the beginning with my fathers restaurant in San Francisco when my father got out of the Army after WWll and opened FRIDAS COFEE SHOP on 24th & Mission in San Francisco now a BART subway entrance.  As a member of several Veteran Organizatons like my father and uncles before me I am making this tribute in the kitchen for all my frriends at the Oakley Veterans, American Legion post 202 and the VFW in Antioch Sequoit post 4551, and all other posts as well.  Our show will feature quick and easy meals that will be available on my blog site with pictures of the food we will be talking about.  So have your pen and paper ready and we will also add a variety of foods, there isn't very many things I cannot cook, while I am a little slower today than when I was in the kitchen as a Broiler Chef, Suess Chef, Line Chef among my many jobs.  My favorite job of all was when I worked for Gerhardt Napa Valley Sausage Co.   yes from Napa California and a close rival was when I was with Fred Marken & Daughters Sauce Company. peanut sauce was a specialty.  We will talk about many of the foods I cooked with these companies and other dishes that are quick and easy, for example for the working mom who does not want to spend 30 or 40 minutes cooking for her family when she gets home a 5 or 10 minute meal with appeal for all.
