EP216 Historical Pirate Fiction Author Ozgur Sahin joins Kori on the Back Porch

    in Books

Ozgur K. Sahin is an award-winning independent author and life coach currently living in Minnesota. He has a background in astrophysics, consciousness development, and history.  He is currently editing the second book in his Brethren of the Spanish Main historical pirate fiction series, and has written and blogged about narcissism and personal/social development.

    The Wrath of Brotherhood

After learning of his sister’s death at the hands of pirates, successful merchant Captain Roy Toppings sails to the Caribbean on a misguided mission of vengeance against the man who failed to protect her: her Spanish widower, Pablo Francisco.

In the climate of the Restoration-era Caribbean colonies, where scheming and stealth could yield a prize as readily as boldness and firepower, Roy's vendetta lands him and his small but talented privateer crew in the middle of political intrigue and a deadly invasion in the West Indies as the nations of Europe struggle to consolidate power in anticipation of new monarchs in England and France.

When Spain prepares a strike that could jeopardize all other commercial interests in the Caribbean, Roy must risk losing his chance at vengeance to fight for his nation and his fellow Brethren of the Coast.

BWE Online Bible Study with Evangelist Reverna Reid Toney

    in The Bible

We should read and study the Bible because it is God's Word to us. The Bible is literally "God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16). In other words, it is God's very words to us. There are so many questions that philosophers have asked that God answers for us in Scripture. What is the purpose to life? Where did I come from? Is there life after death? How do I get to heaven? Why is the world full of evil? Why do I struggle to do good? In addition to these "big" questions, the Bible gives much practical advice in areas such as: What do I look for in a mate? How can I have a successful marriage? How can I be a good friend? How can I be a good parent? What is success and how do I achieve it? How can I change? What really matters in life? How can I live so that I do not look back with regret? How can I handle the unfair circumstances and bad events of life victoriously?

We should read and study the Bible because it is totally reliable and without error. The Bible is unique among so-called "holy" books in that it does not merely give moral teaching and say, "Trust me." Instead, we can read it for ourselves.

CUTV News Radio spotlights Diane Marie Giles of Reclaim Your Castle

    in Self Help

Delaware, ON – Our main goal as people is to have a happy and loved soul. Sadly, many hesitate to begin their healing journey because they find it overwhelming. It does not have to be that way. We don’t need to struggle and have so many challenges in life. Life can be easier if we take the time to be present in the moment. We all have the ability to heal ourselves. We just need to take the time to breathe and be with ourselves.

Diane Marie Giles is a sacred healer and the creator of Reclaim Your Castle, a holistic health and wellness business delivering healing services to those with various imbalances in their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual layers.

“The answers are not outside in the world, they are within us and the only person we are accountable to is ourselves,” says Diane. “When we make that shift in our perspective, miracles happen.”

According to Diane, aches, pains and illness develop from emotional imbalances. Diane serves as the vessel through which her client can connect to the divine healing energies. In addition to her training as a Reiki Master and Integrated Energy Therapy® Master Instructor, Diane is a practitioner of SACRED SCALE™ music. The SACRED SCALE™ is a set of nine frequencies, all in Divine proportion to each other and to all that exists.  This scale empowers us to connect with our full potential.

“The SACRED SCALE™ has put me in tune with myself, both physically and spiritually,” says Diane. “Music sound waves have a vibration that enters each of our cells. Playing the SACRED SCALE™ harp has had profound results. Now I see myself as a whole person instead of two. The more I work with the SACRED SCALE™, the deeper my healing goes.”

Another Fork in the Road: Responsible Resolutions Cam Compton & Lisa Dryer

    in Education

Brain injury survivors, Lisa Dryer and Cam Compton join me to discuss reasonable and responsible and realistic resolutions in the new year. Cam and Lisa both are challenged by many health issues. Lisa is living with Multiple Sclerosis, (MS.) and Cam had a stroke nearly four years ago. Their debilitating illnesses take a toll on each of their lives. Were going to find out how Cam and Lisa approach resolutions in the new year, how they decide if they are reasonable challenges, and how they attack their illnesses to make their lives better.

Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

Experiencing The Holy Spirit: No Longer Dormant

    in Women

    Living The Kingdom Life Ministries:

    Experiencing The Spirit

This teaching will reorient your thinking back to biblical teaching on the Spirit's role in your life. It will also clarify the apparent confusion between natural talents and spiritual gifts, and help you get in step with God's purpose for your life. As you understand the strategic plan in the heart of God to send the gift of the Holy Spirit, you won't struggle with burnout from serving God or carry the weight of anxiety and stress. Your Christian life will produce joy, not burdens that weigh heavy on your soul. The gift of Pentecost was not just for the early believers; it's for you.

As you receive these teachings, you'll discover there are no excuses for watching the activity of God from a distance. He has chosen and equipped every believer for kingdom work. God sent the Holy Spirit on assignment. So what is that assignment? What is He doing in your life? How do you get in step with Him and enjoy abundant life as Christ has promised?

First, allow the Holy Spirit to open the Scriptures and teach you. Too often we come to a study like this with a lot of baggage that may or may not be biblical. We allow many things to shape our thinking— past experiences, books we've read, teaching we've listened to, or just our own assumptions. So come with an open mind and heart to experience the fullness of the Spirit. Listen carefully to the Holy Spirit, for He's the Spirit of Truth.

Second, ask yourself some tough questions: Can I honestly say I'm experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit in my life? If not, why not? The promise of God has been given you, and He expects your life to be shaped by His presence. You cannot remain the same. So prepare yourself to make some adjustments according to what the Spirit shows you.
