  • A Runners Inspiring Story - Gilbert Tuhabonye, Genocide Survivor

    in Sports

An amazing account of faith, running as a national champion, hope and inspiration.  A true story of genocide survival and a second chance to give back as a running coach in America.  As told by Gilbert Tuhabonye.

Gilbert Tuhabonye, a native of Burundi Africa, a nationally ranked runner and genocide survivor.  Tells how he escaped being burned to death with all his schoolmates, now a renowned running coach in America. An inspiring story every runner must hear.

Gilbert narrowly escaped an attack on his school as the Hutu’s sought revenge for the murder of the president of Burundi by the Tutsi’s. With 30% of his body burned he escaped a burning building where as many as 200 of his class mates lay brutally tortured and burned to death.  Fortunately, this story ends well as Gilbert now coaches runners in Austin Texas.

Al Diaz, Lesley Jones-Robertson Rewrite Your Story with Love, Compassion, Peace

    in Lifestyle

Al Diaz and Lesley Jones-Robertson share their insights on Rewrite Your Story with Love, Compassion, and Peacefulness.

    Wednesday, Dec. 24th  10am PST

Since Lesley's personal awakening of 2008 and re-examining her life as it was, life as it should be, the main lesson that Lesley learned is that whenever we get stuck or so focused on the negative situations in our lives, we miss the opportunity to see the positive and see the reason we were meant to go through this experience. Just like a plant must grow in an upward motion from seed to plant, we must look up to where we need to grow, and not become distracted by the levels of dirt we must get through to break through to the next level, we are meant to reach.

Lesley's hope of sharing her own personal life purpose of peacefulness and guiding others to discover their own personal life purpose, would be to assist others in awakening or becoming aware, with a new sense or point of view on just how they examine the challenges that life presents them. Lesley would really like them to take back their power in dealing with life's challenges, and to try to keep a positive outlook and if at possible, a sense of humour when dealing with negative emotions that arise from dealing with these challenges. If you can find something to feel positive about and uplift your spirit, sometimes the blessings come a little bit quicker!

    Christmas Eve in Kent Texas

    in History

My buddy Bob Mc Glew suggested a story line that was visit a ghost town and to do a short story about what you find there. So has we were traveling to Austin Texas on December 24  we stopped in Kent Texas just to see what was there and do a share some reflections . There is not much there but I did learn some valuable lessons. (1) the batteries in my digital camera fell out and promptly disappeared, (2) we were not sure what we would find but do the research first This show is dedicated to Robert Mc Glew my S3 productions foreign reporter for giving me the idea

COMMENTS: Kent. A ranch town born to supply the needs of the long x Cattle Company. The most famous of the west Texas ranches. Owned by the Reynolds brothers, prominent west Texas ranchers. Their holding consisted of several thousand acres extending from north of us highway 10 to several miles south into the Davis mountains. REMAINS: Lots of ruins but a lot still standing. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/tx/kent.html

The town, once called Antelope, was founded in the early 1890s.

A post office was granted in 1893 and by 1914 the population was a thriving 25 persons. The population doubled in the mid-1920s and remained at that level for 40 years. The post office was reported closed in 1960 but has since reopened.

Kent had a population of sixty-five in the late 1960s - falling to 60 by the mid-1970s where it remains today.

Today little is left to interest a tourist - but the juncture of the two roads provides a sense of place. The lone telephone at least looks comforting but its condition is unknown. The overpass of I-10 offers some relief from the scorching sun but it will be sometime before Kent becomes a destination.
