Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1059

    in Self Help

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. Tonight's TOPIC: Are We Creating Monsters? Are 'monsters' made or are they born? Is our society's War on Children and Families creating more casualties then we realize? Not only are we creating victims when we rip families apart but we are also creating new offenders who'll go on to create even more victims of their own, or we are creating more victims to be prey. The reality is that nobody goes through the trauma of this system undamaged. The question is, how much damage is really being done, and just exactly what is it costing us as a society? Join us for a very special edition of the "For Our Kids" talk show where we talk with Psychologist Dr. Jim Singer, Eugena Couture, author of 'Adoption Not An Option' and Dave Kyle, an expert on serial killers. He's done extensive research on this subject, including interviews with such notorious killers as Clifford Olson. Hear the real truth behind these killers and what made them who and what they are. The parallels to CPS and Family Court are beyond chilling. Just what kind of a future is our society creating? The facts will astound you. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: naasca.forourkids@gmail.com

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1058

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Christy Lynn Abram from Washington, a childhood abuse survivor and author of "Little Miss Somebody," a novel based on her experiences. For many years she endured abuse and abandonment at the hands of her mother, a violent alcoholic. Year after year her abuse increased. She writes, "By the age of 12, I was left alone in an abandoned apartment to fend for  myself for weeks." Her mother's actions made her feel worthless, hopeless and isolated in solitude. Christy says, "I became consumed with anger and pain." Although her mother treated her poorly, she followed her mom wherever she went .. to St. Louis, Washington, Florida, Ohio and California. "I was passed around from one relative to another, molested and left to fend for myself." she explains. Her mother "constantly berated me and told me I would never be anybody. At the age of 16, I was emancipated and living alone pregnant with my first child. By the age of 21, I had 3 children and was involved in a abuse marriage." She goes on, "I felt worthless. My sorrow was so deep, I felt like I could never find my way out. I was in and out of mental health treatment centers, each time with a new diagnosis and medication." She struggled with depression for 15 years, survived 3 suicide attempts and eventually continued the cycle of abuse I inherited from her mother. Her road to recovery has taken time. "As a spiritual person, I believe God puts us in the right place so we can discover our purpose through life's lessons," she says. "With all of my being, I believe my experiences have made me a better person." Christy now works as a mental health counselor and mentor to young women who have experiences similar to her own.

"Most Americans have no real understanding of the operation of the international money lenders. The accounts of the Federal Reserve System have never been audited. It operates outside the control of Congress and manipulates the credit of the United States." -- Sen. Barry Goldwater (Rep. AZ) What is the Federal Reserve and how does it operate? How did the Federal Reserve come to be? Why do the Majority of Americans know nothing about the Federal Reserve? "Every Congressman, every Senator knows precisely what causes inflation...but can't, [won't] support the drastic reforms to stop it [repeal of the Federal Reserve Act] because it could cost him his job." -- Robert A. Heinlein, Expanded Universe Why are elected officials silent on this issue? "It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." -- Henry Ford Join us tonight right here on The Gospel of Truth @8pm/cst, so that we may answer these questions and more importantly get you to start asking your own questions.

    Black Reconstruction #LaShawnAllenMuhammad 323.927.2913

    in Finance

    Hosted By: LaShawn Allen-Muhammad

Who were the first Black Elected Officials? During the month of November, as the country gears up to re-elect or vote in the next wave of politicians, Black Reconstruction will revisit the Reconstruction era to pay homage to the Black Men who came before Obama.  During this tumultuous time, Blacks not only established townships, they also positioned themselves to be an integral part of government.

At a Glance.. In 1855, Brownhelm Township, founded by Col. Henry Brown,  gained notoriety throughout the U.S, when the township elected an African-American to government office.  The NY Syracuse Daily Journal, May 31, 1855 reported that John Mercer Langston was a fugitive slave who had been elected clerk.  Brownhelm's early residents had long been known for their strong anti-slavery stance; and Col. Henry Brown's home on the Lake Shore was often a final stop on the Underground Railroad, before reaching Canada by boat.    African-American Firsts: Government

Local elected official: John Mercer Langston, 1855, town clerk of Brownhelm Township, Ohio.

State elected official: Alexander Lucius Twilight, 1836, the Vermont legislature.

Governor (appointed): P.B.S. Pinchback served as governor of Louisiana from Dec. 9, 1872-Jan. 13, 1873, during impeachment proceedings against the elected governor.

U.S. Representative: Joseph Rainey became a Congressman from South Carolina in 1870 and was reelected four more times.

U.S. Senator: Hiram Revels became Senator from Mississippi from Feb. 25, 1870, to March 4, 1871, during Reconstruction.

There have only been a total of five black senators in U.S. history: the remaining two are Blanche K. Bruce [1875-1881] and Barack Obama
