A Conversation with Gary "US" Bonds

    in Lifestyle

As America’s baby boomers moved into their mid teens, Gary began his professional career. For his first hit, "New Orleans," attention was brought to the record by having promotional copies sent to radio stations in sleeves inscribed "Buy U.S. Bonds" - hence at age 19, Gary Anderson became Gary U.S. Bonds.

The follow-up was the now legendary 'party' record, “Quarter to Three,” a number one hit with a spirit and energy that would eventually inspire and influence a generation.

Over the next three years, Bonds co-wrote and recorded hit after good-time hit: ”School is Out," "School is In," "Dear Lady Twist," "Twist, Twist Senora," "Seven Day Weekend" and others. He performed throughout the world, rising to a status so high that on a 1963 tour of Europe, he headlined above a group of relative newcomers… The Beatles.

A rare distinction for Gary is that he managed to transcend the decades with hits. His inspiration for Bruce Springsteen and Steven Van Zandt, who had grown up on Bonds' music led to a chance meeting in 1980. A friendship developed and, shortly after, a musical collaboration which resulted in Bonds' "Dedication" and "On the Line" LPs, with singles: "This Little Girl Is Mine,” "Out of Work," "Jole Blon" and "Daddy's Come Home". Reviews noted “…His gritty, soulful and powerful vocals… even better than before…”  A Rhythm & Blues Foundation honoree and a genuine treasure of American music.

Live:Celebrity Link- THE ETHIOPIANS and Events in Jamaica of The 1966 - 1974

    in Music

Live:Celebrity Link- THE ETHIOPIANS  and  Events in Jamaica of The 1966 - 1974

The Ethiopians were a ska, rocksteady, and reggae vocal group, founded by Leonard Dillon (b. 9 December 1942, Port Antonio, Jamaica,  28 September 2011), Stephen Taylor and Aston Morris. The group started out recording for Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd in 1966. Dillon had previously released some mento songs under the pseudonym Jack Sparrow. Around late 1966, Morris left the Ethiopians. Having left Dodd, the Ethiopians started recording at Dynamic Studios for the W.I.R.L. label, releasing the rocksteady "Train to Skaville", which was their first success. In 1968, they recorded the song "Everything Crash", their first big hit. The song criticised the political situation in Jamaica at the time, such as water rationing and power cuts that led to unrest; such as an incident in which thirty one people were shot by the police. "Everything Crash" was later covered by Prince Buster. "The Whip" is another of their enduring songs from that period.

The Book of Atam and Eua VI

    in Religion

One of several examples of Thracian literature in form of Chronicles, discovered by Dr. Stephen Guide, this particular text tells us the story of our forebearers Adam and Eua as the adapt to life on the Earth after having been cast out of paradise.  The Thracians are the oldest Christian oriented post flood culture having their own ancient literature and language (1500vto 2000 years older than Greek and Sumerian).  Some of their texts are what we would consider Christian religious literature.  Attributed to their forefather *Orfei I, who lived in around 5500 BC, as the first Thracian priest in the most remote ancient time before appearance of ancdient Egypt or Greece, and even Sumer/Mesopotamia.   Not available to the English speaking public this will be the first time anyone has read or shared its contents in anyway prior.
