Los Angelenos have plenty to chew on coming out of the Thanksgiving Day weekend. Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant has decided to retire after this season. We'll discuss 6 things to admire about the future NBA Hall-of-Famer. We'll also discuss how the Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is the closest player to Michael Jordan that we've seen since his Airness retired.
On the college football front, USC has selected current interim head coach Clay Helton to be their permanent head coach. We will tell you what rings right about his hire.
On the NFL front, we will react to Brock Osweiler leading the Denver Broncos to a victory over the New England Patriots and establish the main reason why they have returned to the ranks of Super Bowl contenders. We'll also reveal a fatal flaw in the undefeated Carolina Panthers as well as discuss why finding the right quarterback for his system won't necessarily save the NFL career of Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly.
In the Ramscentric segment, we'll have 2 more guest analysts from the Facebook page LA RAMS vs St Louis Rams to discuss the primary key to brokering a deal for the NFL to finally return to Los Angeles.
Happy holidays to you and your's.
There were no changes in the top five of the college football playoff ranking poll. This means that the Big Ten Championship game could determine which team will represent the Big Ten, in the College Football Playoff. Iowa stayed in the fourth posiition and will play number five Michigan State, in the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State looms at number six, but would need an enormous amount of help to defend its title.
Clemson remains the number one ranked team and will take on North Carolina, in the ACC championship game. Clemson has been the number one ranked team every week in the college football playoff ranking. North Carolina has won 11 straight games and will try to execute the biggest upset of the football season.
Alabama, ranked second, will battle with the Florida Gators, in the SEC championship game. The lone blemish, for Alabama, was a 43-37 loss to Ole Miss. Florida was destroyed by Florida State last week, 27-2, dashing any hopes of making the playoff.
Oklahoma occupies the thrid position and is idle during conference championship week. The Big 12 does not have a conference championship. By not playing, this could secure a spot in the playoff. Should Michigan State win, that could propel them to fourth but probably not over Oklahoma. Ohio State is ranked sixth, but is also idle. The worst case scenario is an Iowa win which could possibly move Oklahoma to fourth, should Clemson and Alabama win. The best case would be losses by both Clemson and Alabama. This could propel Oklahoma to a number one spot without playing.
With four conferences occuping positions in the top four, the NCAA could not have asked for a better end to the season. Should the favorites win, the playoff will have representation from the SEC, ACC, Big 12, and Big Ten. This could cause a debate on how teams are selected for the Championship
James Gordon wakes in Edward Nygma's house only to learn from Oswald Cobblepot that he is now a fugitive from the law for assaulting Theo Galavan and never returning to the GCPD despite a documented arrest. Gordon and Cobblepot begin making plans to break into Theo's residence and save Bruce Wayne. After being questioned by Barnes on Gordon's whereabouts, Leslie secretly learns of Gordon's location from Nygma. After finding Gordon, Leslie attempts to persuade him to turn himself to the GCPD by informing him that she is pregnant. Nygma informs Alfred and Bullock of Gordon's location. Gordon, Bullock, Alfred, Selina Kyle, Cobblepot and his gang all arrive at Galavan's residence just as the Order of Saint Dumas is about to kill Bruce. During a clash between the Order and Cobblepot's gang in which the Order is defeated, Theo, Tabitha, and Silver St. Cloud begin to make their escape. After being bullied by Theo, Tabitha and Silver escape but leave Theo behind. Cobblepot convinces Gordon that Theo will never be convicted and the two take Theo to the docks and murder him. Later, Gordon finds Leslie and proposes to her. Theo's body is discovered by Wayne Enterprises, who take the corpse to Indian Hill, where Fish Mooney's body is also being kept. The scientists state that Theo's body is to be experimented on by Professor Hugo Strange.
I'm forever grateful to David Aspy, EdD, now a mentor from heaven, who taught me empathy and more. He had directed the National Consortium for Humanizing Education in the 1970's and wrote Kids Don't Learn from People They Don't Like with Flora N. Roebuck, EdD in 1977, among other works. I was looking for teaching strategies to help resident physicians improve their teaching skills as head of a workgroup for the AMA Resident Physician Section.
Al Vastyan, PhD in the Humanities faculty at Penn State-Hershey gave me an article about by Dr. Aspy. I liked it and called him at Eastern Kentucky. We talked a good while. He sent me a packet of books including the one above. I was hooked. And excited about others of his writings such as Toward a Technology for Humanizing Education.
He invited me to Richmond, KY to learn more. Dave spent two days teaching me about empathy, congruence and genuineness as applied to audio and video-tape analysis of teacher-learner situations. He showed me the work of Robert Carkhuff, PhD about teaching and helping. The Art of Helping, The Skills of Teaching: Interpersonal Skills and the Carkhuff Interpersonal Skills Scale were included.
Two key pieces of the training were included in the Cognitive Functioning Categories Training Module by Dr.'s Aspy and Roebuck. Listen in for more. What about using these strategies for humanizing healthcare?
