In her debut novel, Summer Rain, Cherlisa Starks Richardson has woven together a gripping novel that shows the faith even a child must have to endure when challenged with the pain life sometimes presents.
About the Book
Sixteen-year-old Summer McClain seemingly has it all—a doting mother and father, two best friends who stick closer than glue, and a grandmother who can cook the pants off any chef who dares to go up against her. Her world is perfect in every way—until tragedy strikes the core of her family.
When Summer thinks the worst thing in her life has happened, she’s dealt more blows that make her question her young faith. Her two best friends, who should be there to love her through her devastation, have personal issues of their own, and on top of that, a girl at school starts bullying her for no reason. Will Summer be able to withstand the heartache, pain, and pressure she has to endure?

With overall matchmaking options boxing narrowing and becoming more limited and asterisk-laden, we've had to relax our standards some, even if only out of a survival instinct. No, boxing is not dying or limping or anything like that, but the last two months or so have given us surprisingly entertaining fights from bouts that, beforehand, were either considered tune ups or technical match ups. Lucas Matthysse-John Molina wound up a splendid fight indeed, Robert Guerrero-Yoshihiro Kamegai slugged its way into our hearts, and this past weekend, Terence Crawford went all Travis Bickle on everyone and mopped up Yuriorkis Gamboa. As Bad Left Hook's James Foley is on vacation, joining Patrick Connor this week is Queensberry-Rules and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board Chair Tim Starks. Also likely to be covered: Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara, Evander Holyfield's retirement, more Golden Boy and Top Rank vs Al Haymon and Richard Schaefer nonsense, etc. Thanks for tuning in!
What do you do when you're the best fighter in the world, people tune in to pay cable shows to watch you count your money, you're undefeated, you work hard, you're dedicated and you're all about raising the roof, Benjamins, letting the dogs out and all of that cool stuff? You fight the guy who kicked the crap out of your "little brother," of course. Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana has been both celebrated and bemoaned - usually celebrated because it's the biggest event of the year thus far, and usually bemoaned because, on paper, it appears to be a typical Mayweather mismatch, and the undercard sucks. It could actually wind up being more like this last weekend's Showtime card featuring Keith Thurman vs Julio Diaz, Lucas Matthysse vs John Molina and Omar Figueroa vs Jerry Belmontes, and surprise the hell out of us. It's unlikely, but that's why we watch this stuff. Joining Patrick Connor of Queensberry-Rules this week (James Foley of Bad Left Hook is taking a small vacation, but he'll be back!) is Tim Starks, editor/founder of TQBR, and Matthew Swain, also of TQBR. Thanks for tuning in!

Combine strong comedic styling, a smooth singing voice, add tap dancing, playing several musical instruments, mixed with dead on impressions, and you've got the recipe for the “hottest” show cooking The Doug Starks Experience. Doug is a phenomenal Las Vegas Headliner.
Doug Starks is the complete package. Encouraged and inspired by his friend and mentor, the late Sammy Davis Jr., Doug Starks does it all. A LOT to get to this week!
We'll recap the Wisconsin Badgers' first scrimmage that happened Sunday morning. Who looked more impressive at quarterback: Joel Stave or Tanner McEvoy? Did the young wide receivers impress? Who stood out on the young defense?
We'll talk with BadgerBlitz' John Veldhuis about his impressions from the first camp as well.
B5Q editor Mike Fiammetta talked with Big Ten Network's Dave Revsine last week about his new book, "The Opening Kickoff." Which former Wisconsin legend did Revsine initially want to write the book about? He'll tell you!
Of course, Scotty and I will discuss the Milwaukee Brewers' homestand against the NL West leading teams, the Green Bay Packers first preseason game (did Scott Tolzien look good?), and the unfortunate accident involving Tony Stewart.
