What does art mean to our nation? What are the implications of national monuments? Join us as art historian Bruce Cole, Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington D.C., talks about art and our national heritage.
From 2001 to 2009, Cole served as the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Appointed by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the Senate in 2001 and again in 2005, Cole was the longest serving Chairman of the NEH. Under Cole's leadership, the NEH launched key initiatives, including We the People, a program designed to encourage the teaching study and understanding of American history and culture, and the Picturing America project, which uses great American art to teach our nation's history and culture in 80,000 schools and public libraries nationwide. He also created the NEH's Digital Humanities Initiative and Office, which made the Endowment a national leader in this new frontier of humanities access and knowledge. Under his tenure partnerships were developed with several foreign countries, including Mexico and China.
Born in Ohio, Cole attended Case Western Reserve University and earned a master's degree from Oberlin and a doctorate from Bryn Mawr. He is also a recipient of nine honorary doctorate degrees. For two years he was the William E. Suida Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence. Cole has held fellowships and grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Kress Foundation, the American Philosophical Society, and the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a corresponding member of the Accademia Senese degli Intronati, the oldest learned society in Europe. He has written fourteen books and numerous articles.
How would you rate yourself as a listener in conversations about faith? Often times Christians can be arrogant and lack compassion when engaging others in apologetic conversations. However, 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to defend our faith with "gentleness and respect," and in our hearts "to honor Christ the Lord as holy." Tonight, Brandon and Jared talk about how and why Christians should approach these conversations with humility and kindess.

John 8:54-58 (KJV)
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Who we are as a species is more complicated in some ways than many people like to consider. As spiritual beings, we are all in our essence from the SAME SOURCE.
In our Earth beings, we are male, female, and, more. What is transgender? If someone takes hormones to be the sex that person knows him/her self to be internally, yet refrains from having complete transition surgery, what sex is that person?
You will meet Carrin Harris, Social Media and IT expert who has also studied human sexuality, and we shall discuss this.
