"CAIN & ABEL" stage play with Playwright AKIVA McCLAMMcClam Enterprise Productions was founded in 2008 by acclaimed playwright and Air Force veteran Akiva McClam. A man of many talents he is fondly called “The Renaissance Man.” Akiva was inspired to write his own plays after attending several of Tyler Perry’s stage plays in the 1990s. His love for writing took off in 2008, when he wrote his first play in seven days, “My Christmas Story.” Since those humble beginnings he has gone on to write several more plays. Akiva wrote and produced the highly successful play “Cain and Abel” which is based on true events of Akiva’s life between his brother Lamont Wesley and the loss of their mother, the late Dorothy Jean Clark. His current works include Secret Lovers, Deep Cover, and Blessed. Also Actress/Comedienne CASSANDRA ARCHER who isInspired by other female entertainers such as Whoopi Goldberg, SNL Star Gilda Radner and Tracy Ullman to name a few, Cassandra has brought many characters to life on stage in her act. Tonight's segment of Center Stage will spotlight "Hot Topics" in our world of news. We will look at updates in the Eric Garner case. Many are seeing striking similarities in the NYPD cases involving Eric Garner and Irving Mizell. Both Garner and Mizell died while in the custody of the NYPD.
Hot topics will also look at the new trend with kids called the "fire challenge," where kids are intentionally setting themselves on fire with accelerants like alcohol and hand santizer. We will look at McDonald's workers protesting for higher wages, Detroit now being called "carjack city, the first Muslim accepted to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the postal service ending door to door delivery for millions of there customers, the botched execution of Clayton Lockett, fed workers owe $3.3 billion in back taxes, an acceptable punishment for a student who physically attacks a teacher, and term limits for politicians.
Tonight's edition of Center Stage focused on the HOT TOPICS in the news headlines from across the country. We spoke with the Angela Darden Tyson the sister of Jermaine Darden who was killed by Fort Worth police in May of 2013. She explained what happened the night her brother died and also said she would fight to have tasers banned in the United States. We also looked at is amnesty for illegal immigrants, the Las Vegas shooting by Jared Miller and his wife Amanda that killed two cops and a bystander and the power of speaking things into existence.
Picking up where we left off yesterday, we will review Adam Bellow's article "Let Your Right Brain Run Free." This episode will start to craft a definition of the "Conservative Voice" and what that might look like on stage (is there such a thing as conservative staging?).
