St. Marguerite Bourgeoys - Without Walls

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

“God closes a door and then opens a window,” people sometimes say when dealing with their own disappointment or someone else’s. That was certainly true in Marguerite’s case. Children from European as well as Native American backgrounds in seventeenth-century Canada benefited from her great zeal and unshakable trust in God’s providence.

Marguerite at the age of 20 believed that she was called to religious life. Her applications to the Carmelites and Poor Clares were unsuccessful.

In 1654, the governor of the French settlement in Canada invited her to come to Canada and start a school in Ville-Marie.

Soon after starting a school, she realized her need for coworkers. Returning to Troyes, she recruited a friend, Catherine Crolo, and two other young women. In 1667 they added classes at their school for Indian children. A second trip to France three years later resulted in six more young women and a letter from King Louis XIV, authorizing the school.

Marguerite established a school for Indian girls in Montreal. At the age of 69, she walked from Montreal to Quebec in response to the bishop’s request to establish a community of her sisters in that city. By the time she died, she was referred to as the “Mother of the Colony.” Marguerite was canonized in 1982.

A More Sure Word of Prophecy

    in Christianity

The highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control. He who can stand unmoved amid a storm of abuse is one of God’s heroes. MYP 134.2
To rule the spirit is to keep self under discipline; to resist evil; to regulate every word and deed by God’s great standard of righteousness. He who has learned to rule his spirit will rise above the slights, the rebuffs, the annoyances, to which we are daily exposed, and these will cease to cast a gloom over his spirit. MYP 134.3

Road Map 4 Seeker's And Searcher's Road Map with Guests Ellynore Smith and Tina

    in Spirituality

ROAD MAP 4 SEEKER'S: At the age of 71 I was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer. Three samples to 3 labs agreed.  At a local church I went to a prayer session 2 days before I had surgery again. The result after surgery was that the tumor was benign. I felt I had a new lease on life and my first thought was 'I have to write a book.'  Years ago we associated with a man who had a terrible experience as a child. Then I thought 'that is a heck of a way to begin a book.' That was the opening of my first novel SIGRIT. Now, 4 years later I have 5 published books with a 6th one at the publisher..   In my younger days I lived a normal life. Got married, had 2 children, but the unusual think I did was live on a sailboat with the family for many years. Now my husband is deceased and my children live far away. I live in the desert Southwest and enjoy my friends and neighbors. I consider them my family, also my 2 cats. email: ellybelly2008@gmail.com

SEARCHER'S ROAD MAP:After the release of her inspirational autobiography “Polished: filing away at life's truths” Tina was a guest speaker at St. Francis College, St. Joseph's College, and numerous high schools. She has been written up in The New York Daily News, US News and World Report, The Home Reporter, The World of Nails and other newspapers.  Tina was interviewed on “Entrepreneur Life” airing on cable television, http://youtu.be/443fk_BnaGY. in Religion

The Pastor O. Show is the show that is all about Jesus Christ and what he is doing through his body the church by the power of the Holy Spirit he sent to be with us and in us. We seek to teach Christian's how to walk in the power our Father in heaven gave us to walk in as his word say's in  John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: and again the Lord Jesus said these words to us just before he left earth.  Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. So join us and become who you already are in Christ Jesus.

Race & Relations: The American Judicial System

    in The Bible

The television is bombarded with images of the injustice of African Americans in this country and while Lady Justice is sitting quietly, turning a blind eye and deaf ear to the continuous pain and unfair mistreatment of African Americans, it's clear that though others may not value the lives of our black youths--something has to be done!

Bishop McKinney addresses a lot of the concerns that surrounds the judicial system regarding black lives and what we need to do as a community and as a race of people to become economically ahead and not participate in destroying the lives of our fellow black sisters and brothers because it truly is a spiritual warfare!  We must be ahead of the game and stop refusing to be last when everyone who is not of African descent has benefited off of the sweat and blood of our African ancestors.  We must educate ourselves by putting down the video games and picking up a book.  We must empower ourselves by being filled with the spirit of God so that he can direct our footsteps and we must not kill each other, leaving another heartbroken parent to carry the pain of grief because the life of her/his child was snuffed out.

Did Dr. Martin Luther King and so many march for nothing?  Did Rosa Park refuse to sit in the back of the bus for no reason?  Was Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad in vain? But more importantly, does Black Lives Matter?
