Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org
St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, Franciscan Capuchin martyr. He was born Mark Rey in Sigmaringen, Germany, in 1577. A practicing lawyer, he traveled across Europe as a tutor to aristocrats, but then he started defending the poor. In 1612, he became a Franciscan Capuchin monk, taking the name of Fidelis. He was missionary to Grisons, Switzerland, and he also served as the head of the Congregation for the Spreading of the Faith.
He was so successful that local Protestants claimed that he was a spy for the Austrian Emperor. Fidelis was stabbed to death in a church in Seewis. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XIV.
Now that Ferguson has received the attention of the world, where does the community go from here? How does this broken and hurting community UNIFY and change their city for the better? Will they have a massive voter registration drive that will sign up every unregistered voter in St. Louis County? If successful, wil...l they take their voting power and remove their current Governor, Mayor and District Attorney from office? Will they DEMAND a new Police Chief that will work for all the people of Ferguson and provide transparency in the police department? If Ferguson was able to accomplish these things, maybe people could begin to say Michael Brown's death was not in vain but brought about positive change for the city of Ferguson.
Center Stage has covered the murder of Mike Brown for the past two weeks, please visit the links listed below to listen to the show. ( 1.) NWP welcomes the legend and the man, Charlie Daniels!
From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 76, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need. Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys
Each year Charlie also hosts The Charlie Daniels Celebrity Golf Classic & Angelus Concert in Hudson, FL, a benefit for The Angelus, a full-time residential facility and day school program for the severely handicapped. Charlie is also a member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Professional Advisory Board and has been a longtime supporter of the T. J. Martell Foundation and its numerous events aiding cancer research. He’s also the headliner every year for the Christmas 4 Kids concert at the Ryman Auditorium, which raises money to provide a happy holiday for needy children. “I have a very unique opportunity because of being in the music community,” Charlie says of using his celebrity status to aid worthy causes. “You try to give back to some extent. I do feel like people should. We should all do as much as we can.” http://www.charliedaniels.com
