Think it’s easy being a kid these days? Think again: peer pressure, social pressure, finances, bullying, divorce, standardized testing, guns, drugs, school violence, abusive adults, low self-esteem, and more. These are many of the same problems that adults face, but as adults we typically have coping skills. But even though adults have coping skills, many still have difficulty dealing with these situations. So how do we expect kids to effectively handle these situations? More importantly, how and where do kids learn the social and emotional skills they need to cope with the life challenges they will ultimately face? The lucky kids will meet Staci Ellis, a child and adult psychotherapist who specializes in trauma. Years ago, Staci created a mock brochure for her young nephew which provided advice and preparation for life challenges. From that idea, Staci developed Life Stuff for Kids, a forum for kids to express and exchange thoughts on life challenges. Kids need to know they have someone to turn to for help and resources to get them through life’s difficulties. Staci Ellis knows more than most on that subject. She began as a Therapeutic Support Staff with a non-profit, served hundreds of families as a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Specialist for 15 years, then became a Trauma Therapist working with kids and adults. She taught parents and school staff behavior management skills and provided professional training on Trauma and Children to bachelor, masters, and doctoral level attendees, and facilitated a class for separating parents called Children in the Middle. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

She shared with me a blog post she wrote titled, "Dear Motherless Daughter, My Wish for you on Mother’s Day". The approach is as if your mother was writing you a letter. I loved it!
Angela is working on her memoir and is the director of I AM WHO ?? - a children’s organization in Thailand that does heart work with orphans.
About this show: I lost both parents to cancer at 22 and 27. Let’s talk about stuff that’s hard, ways you can move forward in your life and how to get back to a happier place. My intention is to connect those of us who have lost our mothers, our fathers or both parents, at any age, through the arts, life experiments, looking inward and turning pain into something positive.

I want you to unstand something here, in spite of these words and many other similar Scriptures (John 15:18; Acts 14:22; 1 Thess. 3:3-4; 2 Tim. 3:12), many that profess to know Christ stumble and fall away when they get hit with various trials. If you’re going to persevere with Christ, you must know in advance that you will face times when you are in the pit, and you must know what to do when you’re there. Rather than turning away from the Lord, you must learn to turn to Him to rescue you from life’s pits.Join us for re airing on Saturday Morning Manna broadcast: "In To Deep" also visit www.uptopministries.org for next schedule broadcast and events and share it with your friends!
