Continuing their discussion of the new Spike Jonze love story, Her, hosts Phil Bowermaster and Stephen Gordon take on some prickly issues the film raises about reality and subjective experience.
Could a computer program ever really fall in love with a human being?
Could a human being reciprocate?
If possible, is any of this likely to occur any time soon?
And perhaps the most fundamental question:
If the feelings are real, is the experience real?
Tune in and explore!

By now you have heard that Spike Lee's controversial film about Chicago gun violence, "Chiraq" is a take off from the old Greek play "Lysistrata" in which the women unite to withhold sex from the men until they agree to a truce and end the war. A special premier of the film is scheduled for the Chicago Theater this Sunday at 7pm. Today's guests, some of whom participated in the filming of Chiraq here in Chicago, will look at the film's message - women who unite to withhold sex from their gangbanging men to stop the killing on Chicago's streets. With all of the latest tragic shootings, taking the lives of innocent young people, is this a strategy women ought to consider? City officials have accused Spike Lee of making light of the situation with his film, but what do film participants think? What do you think of the idea? Could women stop violence with a sex boycott?

Many attended the special premier of Spike Lee's controversial film, Chiraq last night at the Chicago Theater. Today we'll talk to some of the young men and women who viewed the movie and get their perspective: will the film's focus on sex get young people's attention? Is the idea of withholding sex to get a truce between gangs something young women would possibly agree to? Did the film handle the real matter of children shot dead in a serious enough manner? Would you recommend this movie to your friends? Do you think men and women involved in gang violence will be influenced by this film at all
Greetings to all our supporters (and detractors..what the hey)! Pull up a seat and listen to a new installment of our Mid Week in Review podcast airing this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST-courtesy of the Afronerd Radio machine. Join Capt. Kirk and Dburt as they attempt to shed light on the following topics: it appears that Dburt has additional thoughts about the recent racial controversies centering around the student body of the University of Missouri (the acronym SJW comes to mind); as expected, Black twitter appears to have a problem with not only director, Spike Lee's upcoming Chiraq film but his views on intraracial violence (sigh); Hollywood whitewashing continues with new The Gods of Egypt film (hint: no actual Egyptians were cast) and again, the cyberwebs react; and in a gross case of over-reaction, a 67 year old White woman gets arrested for pulling a gun on a Black man who was asking for a light and we will try to do some house cleaning by addressing issues we failed to tackle from previous broadcasts. Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
