In this episode we are joined by Coach Alex Sachs of the KEEN program in Phoenix. As a former professional soccer player and Olympic medal winner, Alex brings her great passion for sports to serving the special needs community.
KEEN Phoenix (Kids Enjoying Exercise Now) is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. KEEN's mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. We have three sites that we service kids from Escalante Community Center, Gompers, and Jewish Community Center in Scottsdale.
Alessandra “Coach Alex” Sachs played on the Brazilian Women’s National Soccer Team for 11 years and has a silver medal from the 2004 Olympic Games, a gold medal 2007 Pan American Games and was inducted in the Brazilian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.
Today, she is the Program Director of KEEN Phoenix and Program Manager of Playworks Arizona.
In this episode, Rob Haupt also offers an update on recent news about Medi-Cal and Medicaid coverage for autism services.
WHY LIFE IS LIKE A SET OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS with PAUL MORRIS
Are we programmed, along with every other living organism, by the great coder in the sky? By coder I mean one who programs computers. I’m not just discussing people and animals, I’m including plants as well. And not just application programs, currently known as “Aps,” but operating systems and utilities. I'll explain all this during the show.
With 25 years of professional IT experience, 40 years of studying human behavior and a strong foundation in spirituality and science, I fell quite comfortable in giving this subject a go.

HBCUs offer culture, a rich history and rigorous academic programs. Most importantly, they prepare students for leadership and life after graduation. There are 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the nation and nine percent of all African American college students attend HBCUs. In 1965, in Title III of the Higher Education Act of 1965, Congress officially defined an HBCU as a school of higher learning whose principal mission was and is the education of African Americans and was accredited and established before 1964.
All HBCUs play a critical role in the American system of higher education. For most of America’s history, African Americans seeking a college education could only get it from an HBCU. firstname.lastname@example.org call in 661-467-2407
