    Spartan Life Radio: Are You Ready for Some Football?

    Are you ready for some Spartan football? We're talking to coaches and a player or two on this issue of Spartan Life Radio. The Spartans return 15 starters from last year's team and welcome a promising recruiting class of freshmen and transfers this year. Join your host Michael Cotter as he talks football with Spartan head coach Latrell Scott. The Spartans will be led coach Scott, who comes to NSU after compiling a 19-4 record, one CIAA championship and an NCAA Division II playoff victory over a successful two-year stint at Virginia State. The Norfolk State football team opens its 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Non-conference games include matchups with Rutgers University, ODU and Marshall, all on the road. Home games include MEAC contests with Hampton, North Carolina A&T, Savannah State and South Carolina State.

    Spartan Life Radio: Norfolk State University's Day of Giving

    Norfolk State University will host its first Day of Giving beginning Thursday, September 17, at noon and ending Friday, September 18, at 11:59 p.m. The Day of Giving is a 36-hour fundraiser to honor NSU’s 80th Anniversary. The goal is to raise $80,000 in support of our students. Our guest will be Dr. Deborah Fontaine, Interim Vice President for University Advancement at Norfolk State.     Spartan Life Radio: Cybersecurity Connection

    Identity theft, breaches of the White House's computer network, a breach in the SONY Entertainment network, etc. have recently been in the news. Ever wonder about the individuals that protect your information . . . your identities from being stolen? How does one even know when their computer network has been breached? Well, on this episode of Spartan Life Radio, your host Michael Cotter will interview Dr. Aurelia Williams, chair of the NSU computer science department, and ask her about these recent cyber attacks and NSU's role in training cybersecurity professionals.

    Norfolk State University is leading a $25-million effort to educate, train and develop the nation’s next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration awarded the grant to the University as part of its efforts to expand and diversify the cybersecurity workforce. The grant aims to foster partnerships between HBCUs, federal laboratories, and students interested in science, technology, engineering and math as early as kindergarten. Norfolk State is the lead institution for the grant that includes a 13-member consortium of the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Department of Energy National Laboratories, and a public school district.
