    Vote For Nick Augustine for Shady Shores, Texas Town Council, Place 2

    in Politics

    Keeping an eye on the past while focusing on the present and future, we can ensure Shady Shores, Texas will be a great place to buy a home and raise a family.

    If elected to Town Council, my votes will be in the direction of:

    (1) Spending cuts and maintaining our savings and assets for the future;

    (2) Manageable growth that increases our land values and preserves our charm;

    (3) Increased resident communication and involvement in future decision-making.

    Voting for me, Nick Augustine, is a smart choice because I am educated, available, and interested in adding a new sense of balance and viewpoints to our council with my volunteer background and experiences.

    I operate a local marketing and public relations business, which allows a flexible schedule to talk with residents anytime they give me a call or want to meet to talk about their concerns. Being on Council requires a great deal of work and I have the time to get it all done.

    I hope to see you all at the Candidates Debate on Monday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m.

    Volunteer Experience:

    Nick Vatterott Hates Podcasts

    in Comedy

    Nick Vatterott can't make it this week, he's completely fed up with podcasts, so taking over this week is overzealous, long time podcast listener, first time podcast podder Augustus Bradshaw. Augustus asks every question every podcaster asks. His guest this week is the hilarious, one of a kind, Mr. Mike Dobbins! The two tackle such over asked podcast questions as "How did you get into stand up?", and "When did you know you were funny?" and "Is there an inherent truth that some aspect of honesty or realness must be bled into absolute absurdity in order for the ridiculous to be any sort of place of abstract substance?"

    John Carver Show - Handicapable (Nick Vujicic)

    in Self Help

    Nick Vujicic has touched, by some estimates, BILLIONS of lives around the world.  He was born without arms or legs and has gone from despair to making a difference.  On this show he is being interviewed by a Russian publication.  His theme: Being Handicapable.

    Here are some of his quotes from his books and speeches.:

    “If you can't get a miracle, become one.”

    “If I fail, I try again, and again, and again. If YOU fail, are you going to try again? The human spirit can handle much worse than we realize. It matters HOW you are going to FINISH. Are you going to finish strong?”

    “It's a lie to think you're not good enough. It's a lie to think you're not worth anything.”

    “Life isn't about having, it's about being. You could surround yourself with all that money can buy, and you'd still be as miserable as a human can be. I know people with perfect bodies who don't have half the happiness I've found. On my journeys I've seen more joy in the slums of Mumbai and the orphanages of Africa than in wealthy gated communities and on sprawling estates worth millions. Why is that? You'll find contentment when your talents and passion are completely engaged, in full force. Recognise instant self-gratification for what it is. Resist the temptation to grab for material objects like the perfect house, the coolest clothes or the hottest car. The if I just had X, I would be happy syndrome is a mass delusion. When you look for happiness in mere objects, they are never enough. Look around. Look within.”

    “I never met a bitter person who was thankful. Or a thankful person who was bitter.”

    “If I fail, I try again, and again, and again”
