    Guest--Comedy Zone Headliner- Mikey Mason

    in Comedy

Tonight on The Charleston Comedy podcast we have guest comic Mikey Mason. Mikey will be at the Comedy Zone here in South Charleston this weekend. One show on Friday at 8 and  two shows on Saturday 7 and 9! Tickets are just ten dollars!

Born in Kentucky and dragged throughout the south before settling in Indiana to be raised in a trailer, Mikey Mason has a diverse background to draw material from. With his abnormal childhood, five siblings, two marriages, two children, multiple pets, college experiences, and many career changes (ranging from fast food, to working at a funeral home, to teaching middle school, high school and college, as well as working with at-risk youth,) he's got a lot to talk-and sing-about.

Mikey went from performing in bands and sketch and improv. comedy troupes to performing standup over the last 15 years. He's performed at Crackers, the Comedy Caravan, Wiley's Comedy Nightclub, Snickerz Comedy Bar, Mason City Limits, Go Bananas, and One Liners, as well as many bars, clubs, fraternities, and private parties in and around the Midwest. He's performed with Todd Yohn, John Fox, Rob Haney, Lord Carrett, Steve Lott, Troy Davis, Chris Speyrer, Tracey Tedesco, and Tim Rowlands, among others, and has made multiple regional television and radio appearances. With a strong stage presence, infectiously hilarious songs, and a wit almost as fast as his mouth, Mikey is an unforgettable performer.

Mikey draws the audience in with his saucy, irreverent blend of storytelling and outrageous songs. No subject or musical style is off limits. From country to rock, pop to rap, religion to relationships, politics to childhood insecurities, Mikey is unabashed, unafraid, and unquestionably funny.

To Future Generations: AmeriCAN or AmeriCAN'T ?

    in Politics Conservative

Do you ever wonder why so many issues are happening at once and who is benefitting? Where on earth did the idea of regional versus local control of our schools, health, and water originate? How do all of these topics overlap and what is the ultimate goal?

Debbie Bacigalupi, a requested speaker throughout the West, will be detailing history, political, economic, and environmental issues that impact every single one of us and explain how all of these issues are related to the present and “future generations” with an emphasis on water and private property rights.  Miss Bacigalupi will share what she’s garnered from conferences she has attended – like the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, the Navigating the American Carbon World on Cap-n-Trade, the Western Governors Association CHAT Conference on Drought, and many Fish and Wildlife meetings and hearings on the Endangered Species Act.  What do these items have to do with our behavior and future?  An avid researcher, this daughter of ranchers and farmers iis known for her lively and interactive presentation on the threats of wolves to dam removals, water supply, and the people who supply our food.

TVUH & Graham Chivers talk science, the new frontier, failure and Harper

    in Politics

Science has been called a boring subject with deep topics. Certainly too deep for the propagandists out of the PMO. Applied sciences will serve the CPC agenda, or they will be ignored. Canada has a long, storied history in scientific development, be it for institutional, research or commercial purposes. Humanity is at the beginning of another scientific revolution. Our mathematics and supercomputing is enabling and verifying our very nature.

The language of science, the processes of science, the risk/reward of new discoveries and the ethics of them are all complex areas that defy simple, catchy explanation. Investment, data, experimentation, application and free exchange of findings are all critical pieces of the puzzle. Yet the Harper government has shown little regard for this field in which Canada has historically punched above its weight. Climate change, green energy, medicine, computing, space exploration - science seeks to increase the safety of our existence by tackling these issues and many more.

For the past 25 years, Graham has worked in Canada and USA, in manufacturing, as a special machine designer. If you can buy it, he can make it, or make 1000 per second, all it takes is time and money. Graham was trained on the same design software as NASA used for its space stuff, and five others since. His first design workstation cost $250,000, almost like having a tiny physics universe to play on. Being an expert at applying new technology to answer challenges, he has special insights into advanced controls systems, exotic manufacturing process, lean manufacturing, executive expertise, project management experience, technical communication and eliminating your competition. Starting with a smart design can accomplish more than any single step in business can deliver. Remember, your customer is running the show, so do your due diligence, kick back and make some money and help the planet.

Alisa Kaplan is not a name one might recognize initially, but she is the survivor involved in one of the most infamous sexual assault trials in SouthernCalifornia history. Having remained relatively silent over the last 13 years, she is now telling her story in her first book Still Room For Hope: A Survivor's Story of Sexual Assault, Forgiveness, and Freedom

In Still Room For Hope,Kaplan shares the dramatic account of what happened to her, the shame and humility that nearly destroyed her, and her journey on the road to becoming more than just a victim.

SWAG Radio Presents: Latoya Chandler and Karen D. Neal

    in Books

Latoya Chandler is a New York-based writer. She enjoys her career as an executive assistant to the CEO of a non-profit organization. When not busy writing or burying her nose in books of the urban romance/fiction persuasion, Latoya enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her five loving children and her very patient better half.
In October of 2013, Latoya’s life changed drastically when she realized she wasn’t crazy and the people talking—or the voices in her head—were actually the voices of her potential characters desperately wanting to be heard. She began writing and before she knew it, she had penned her first novel, Torn: I Don’t Need You, But I Want You. Latoya’s pride and joy was released and published January 1st through her long-desired personal publishing company, Passion Publications.
    Writer’s Bio Karen N. Cummings

Karen has had a love for words since she has been able to speak. Her passion began with her competitive classroom spelling Bees. Her love for speaking continued into High school when she placed third in a state public speaking competition for VOCA. Her dad proudly displays the plaque on his wall to this very day. She never saw her passion developing into what she can only describe today as an amazing blessing. Karen has worked in the medical field for 25 plus years and continues to do what she does best, be a support system for others and provide comfort. She has combined her love and passion to create books of entertainment while touching on real life situations. Karen's first title, "Grey Family Preys" was published in June 2013, via Amazon Kindle as well as paperback, and touches on Child Molestation. She later signed with World Haven Agenda for a short period before gracefully departing with the Publishing group.

Karen is now the entrepreneur of Pensive Publishing, a small publishing company that she began in June 2014, and delivered "She Me We", as the first title, a short story written by Neal. This story touches
