WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

The South is on fire right now, I have been traveling in my homeland for 2 days speaking to the Youth about the conditions of the climate of violence that has become the topic of today, in the South.  I have heard so much of a news black out that it is as if the White Supremest are blinding the people to the fact that they have declared war on the Black People.  Lynchings determined to be suicide, arrested and killed, mysterious church bombings.  I am here in the south an observing the real phenomena, of racist behavior.

"The threat to america, however, does not exist in negro america, but rather as a result of negro america. If one examines the structure of this country closely he will note that there are three basic categories: they are white america, negro america, and Black america. The threat to the existing structure comes from Black america, which exists in contradiction to both white and negro america. It is the evolution of these contradictions that has given rise to the present revolutionary conditions. Revolution is indeed inevitable, and, as the cycle of change closes around america's racist environment, the issue of color becomes more pertinent.

Color is the first thing Black people in america become aware of. You are born into a world that has given color meaning and color becomes the single most determining factor of your existence. Color determines where you live, how you live and, under certain circumstances, if you will live. Color determines your friends, your education, your mother's and father's jobs, where you play, what you play and, more importantly, what you think of yourself. " H. RAP BROWN

A Journey Of Life on PURPOSE - Avril Somerville

    in Motivation

Join us this evening for a candid conversation with  Avril Somerville as we await the release of her first book, A Journey of Life on Purpose. Avril Somerville writes about creativity, love, womanhood, community, race, and identity through personal essays and poetry. Her writing is intelligent, yet accessible and fluid. In A Journey Of Life On Purpose, Somerville offers inspiration and insight on matters of purpose, creativity, meaning, empathy, transparency, and authenticity beyond the traditional worlds of work and career. She maintains that regardless of what we call ourselves, we all have gifts to bring that should leave the world better than how we found it when we came.

Writer, essayist, and poet Avril Somerville was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Her family migrated to Brooklyn, New York when she was just ten years old. She attended the public schools of Brooklyn, the South Bronx, and Harlem in New York City.

Somerville is a first-generation college graduate of Swarthmore College and obtained her Master of Business Administration from PSU Smeal College.

She is a writer and teacher who speaks quite capably on matters that transcend religion, class, race, and gender, and is especially vocal on writing as a tool for personal transformation.

Her first book, “A Journey Of Life On Purpose: Creativity, Love, Womanhood, Community, Race, and Identity” is a nonfiction memoir of personal essays and poetry which she has written while living in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States.

Avril lives with her family in a quiet suburb bordering the City of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.

This book will be released on July 4, 2105 on Amazon.  Reserve your Kindle copy today at http://www.amazon.com/Avril-Somerville/e/B00YBCMZVA/ref=ntt athr dp pel 1

a Theory of Parenting -Central Park Conservatory Garden

    in Photography

The Conservatory Garden is Central Park's six-acre formal garden.

It is divided into three smaller gardens, each with a distinct style: Italian, French, and English. The Garden's main entrance is through the Vanderbilt Gate, on Fifth Avenue between 104th and 105th Streets.

The Italianate center garden is composed of a large lawn surrounded by hedges and is bordered by two exquisite spring-blooming pink and white crabapple trees.

A 12-foot high jet fountain plays on the western end of the lawn, backed by tiered hedges and stairs that lead up to a wisteria pergola.

On the walkway under the pergola are medallions inscribed with the names of the original 13 states.

spectacular seasonal displays of spring tulips,  all within an ellipse of Japanese holly.

In the center is the charming Three Dancing Maidens fountain by German sculptor, Walter Schott.

To the south is the very intimate English-style garden.

There are five mixed borders of trees, shrubs and perennial plants, and five seasonal beds featuring spring bulbs that are followed by annual flower displays.

A slope of woodland plants lines the western edge of this garden.

At the center is sculptor Bessie Potter Vonnoh's lovely Frances Hodgeson Burnett Memorial Fountain, a tribute to the author of the children's book, The Secret Garden.

The children — a girl and a boy, said to depict Mary and Dickon, the main characters from the classic — stand at one end of a small water lily pool.

The Conservatory Garden is an officially designated Quiet Zone and offers a calm and colorful setting for a leisurely stroll, and intimate wedding, or an escape with a good book.

For many years the garden was tended by volunteers from the Garden Club of America and in 1983 it was restored by the Central Park Conservancy.
