Amir Khan vs Devon Alexander, Tim Bradley vs Diego Chaves Recap

    in Sports

A star-studded weekend of boxing delivered little in the way of actual oomph, unfortunately. There weren't many thrills or spills, but plenty of chills. But did you expect us to say anything different anyway? From ESPN's "Night of Champions" that featured Antonio Tarver and Austin Trout, to a ho-hum ShoBox between Erislandy Lara and Ishe Smith, to a mediocre Showtime card (surprised?) headlined by Amir Khan vs Devon Alexander dueling with a good-but-depressing HBO card across the street, topped by Tim Bradley vs Diego Chaves, we got it all, baby. James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor will help you relive every fight, no prisoners taken. Thanks for tuning in!

Should Schools Change What They Teach About Native Americans and Thanksgiving?

    in Women

American schools teach a basic formula when it comes to early U.S. History: Christopher Columbus discovered America, then the Pilgrims came and spent a cold winter, the Native Americans helped them survive by showing them how to grow corn, they all had a big turkey dinner and that was the first Thanksgiving. And everybody lived happily ever after. The story sounds nice but there is an ugly side to U.S. History that many Native Americans say ought to be told. Why did relations between Native Americans and European immigrants turn sour and later violent? Should American children be told a story that's extremely uncomplimentary to the Founding Fathers of the nation? Does America owe reparations to the Native American people for human rights violations? Should the Thanksgiving story be revised so as to teach a greater lesson about morals, ethics, values, and respect for the culture of others?

CM Radio - Nov 26, 2014 - BadBadNotGood, Sultans Of String, NMC

    in Music

This is one for the musos. We've got interviews with two very talented, innovative, and remarkably unique acts - jazz/hip-hop crossover BadBadNotGood and the lively symphonic Sultans of String.

BBNG is set to drop Sour Soul, a collaboration with the one-and-only Ghostface Killa of Wu Tang Clan, early in 2015. The band is amidst a string of festival dates, getting young music fans into what's traditionally been a niche genre thanks to a youthful energy and abandonment of genre limitations. (Last time I saw these guys, they had a room of a few hundred moshing - yes, moshing - to jazz music - Andrew)

As for Sultans of String, they've got a string of high-profile shows coming up in late November, including a date at Toronto's pristine Koerner Hall. The group's latest release, Symphony!, is a cool project that involved a number of high-profile Canadian musicians, and we'll see how material from that will translate to the stage for these upcoming shows.

Finally, we'll hear the latest about the National Music Centre in Calgary, including the construction of some state-of-the-art studio spaces.

    in Jobs

To listen live and speak with Dr Arlene call (347) 308-8200

On the WIN Without Competing! show Dr. Arlene will interview two of her clients who succeeded in Fixing the Fits in high stress work situations, which had made them physically sick.  The listeners will learn how to implement Dr. Arlene’s Right Fit Branding Strategies to significantly improve their work situation and environment to set the stage for career success in 2015.

Dr. Arlene says, “You do not want to be one of the 30 million employees who walk out in 2014. Why?  You will be suddenly unemployed. Instead, figure out why your job is the Wrong Fit, perhaps, you can stay.”

Dr. Arlene will ask her guests these questions:  Did you…

    1. select a Wrong Fit position expecting it to be the Right Fit?
    2. accept a Wrong Fit job unknowingly, not seeing the red flags?
    3. accept a Wrong Fit job knowingly, without any commitment?
    4. select a Right Fit position that turned sour?
    5. pick the best job, which turned out to be the worst job?

Understanding why you are in a Wrong Fit situation is a critical component to the solution.  Learning how to analyze your work situation and selecting the Right Fit Branding Strategies to Fix the Fit could eliminate the need to quit.

You do not need to join the 30 million and become suddenly unemployed.  Instead, change your mindset and transform not only your career but also your life.  To contact Dr. Arlene to discuss your situation, call her office (310) 443-4277.

Selfish divorce radio with Greg W Anderson Episode 1

    in Relationships

When my ex announced she was going to get remarried, I decided to post something about it on Facebook. No, this isn’t a story of a poorly considered FB post gone sour.

You can read the entire post in the following pages, but in essence what I said was:

I am so happy for her. She’s an amazing woman. I wish them both the very best for the future.

The comments, both online and offline, came pouring in. Some thought it was a joke. Some thought I was being sarcastic.

I was interested in the response but I was also saddened. It is clear that so many people see their divorces as disasters and their exes as the devil. It doesn’t have to be that way.

My own divorce allowed both my ex and me to face the future unburdened by anger, resentment, bitterness, and even huge attorney fees. My approach allowed us to move into the future with the possibility of being the best versions of ourselves.  This experience prompted me to write the book about the “selfish” divorce. The selfish divorce isn’t what you think. It could easily be called the “selfless” divorce, because in the end, being selfless is adaptive and will lead to the best outcomes possible for you, your ex, and your children.

That said, here’s what to expect from The Selfish Divorce Radio:

At times i’ll tell you my life story, especially as it relates to relationships and marriage. Some of these lessons have to do with relationships and some don’t. But they’re all things I’ve learned and if possible, I’d like to help prevent you from taking any of the “classes” I did.

We will also cover the tatical steps I took and continue to take each to to create a better life.

The Kerri Edelman Show presents Hard Rock/Metal Band Nonpoint

    in Rock Music

Nonpoint released their new studio album, The Return on September 30th 2014 via Razor & Tie.  The album was produced by Grammy nominated producer Johnny K (Disturbed, Staind, Megadeth) and Daniel Salcidoto. Nonpoint vocalist Elias Soriano explains, “Last record we stepped in a direction we've wanted to for years and our fans revered us for it.  This record we have gotten up to speed and dropped the pedal to the floor.  I think our fans will embrace this record in a way no other Nonpoint record has been viewed or loved.  We left no room for question of what we are trying to accomplish with our music or who we are. We haven't gone back to old school.  We didn't reflect on our past.  We didn't discuss what works. We are not "Statement" Nonpoint or even "Bullet" Nonpoint...... "The Return" is Nonpoint right now." Formed in 1997, Nonpoint has since released seven full-length albums and one live album selling over 800,000 albums in North America.  In late 2013, Nonpoint closed out a year of touring behind 2012’s self-titled record, which yielded the Active Rock radio hit “Left For You.” With over a decade of extensive road work under their belts, the band has toured with All That Remains, Mudvayne, Papa Roach, Sevendust, Disturbed, Flyleaf, Buckcherry, Drowning Pool, Stone Sour, and Hell Yeah and graced the stages of Ozzfest, Rock On The Range and Summerfest.  Now in 2014, their eighth full-length album The Return remains as raw, ripping, and real as these musicians—Elias Soriano [vocals], Robb Rivera [drums], Rasheed Thomas [guitar], Adam Woloszyn [bass], and B.C. Kochmit [guitar]. Pick up a copy of their amazing new album 'The Return' now featuring the hit single 'Breaking Skin.' For more information, visit nonpoint.com
