Sonic Art of Being is my way of life; my self expression. The art form through my eyes—Sonic's eyes—represents the many different art realms that I pursue, such as abstract make–up, make–up for all occassions, and recycled jewelry design. At the forefront of it all is my singing and songwriting.
SONIC discusses becoming a finialist on the HIT TV show "The Voice"!!! Tune in to see what's in store for her career!!!
When Sonic was six years old, she learned she was completely deaf in one ear. But instead of being afraid to sing, she embraced her unique sound and even landed a record deal at 14. That didn't work out, but she continued to pursue music and is currently a member of a music collective in San Francisco. She's was excited to be at The Voice, where she was judged on her singing and nothing more.

Live music: Midnight Lover slow R&B,lovers rock 60s 70s 80s reggae just for you
Motown Love Songs: Motown Milestones emphasizes the label's romantic ballads and slow jams, and while tracks like the Miracles' "Ooo Baby Baby," the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" and the Temptations' "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" are all undisputed classics, over the course of its 18 cuts the collection grows thin, with too many of the songs subscribing to the same sonic formula (gossamer harmonies, lush strings and glacial rhythms). The track selection is also more than a little suspect -- any collection of Motown love songs on which the contributions of Michael Jacksonoutnumber those of Marvin Gaye by a two-to-one ratio really needs to go back to the drawing board.
Hey Hey Hey Hey, to the inner and outer sanctum that follow the show commonly known as Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review! Join Capt. Kirk and Dburt for another 2 hour sonic space mission scheduled to take place this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST. The topics up for discussion are: what (and why) does the Waco Thug/Biker wars mean for Black folks in the wake of the unrest in Baltimore; our thoughts regarding a Duke University professor's online comments comparing Black and Asian students and how many our deeming his opinions to be racist; rap mogul, Sean P. Diddy Combs weighs in and questions the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement via instagram; Dburt revisits (clarifies?) his thoughts on director, Ava DuVernay possibly helming Marvel's upcoming Black Panther movie (and how it relates to HBO's Bessie film); more on the passing of Blues Icon, B.B. King; Dburt highlights Drs. John McWhorter and Glenn Loury's bloggingheads show; certainly a Grindhouse topic-we may see Earth 2 depicted on Flash (wow, a Jay Garrick siting). And lastly, the crew gives their impressions of the latest Mad Max reboot. Call in live at 646-915-9620.

Good Evening, people! Get your latest "ringside" sonic experience this Wednesday, courtesy of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review show airing promptly at 7:30pm EST. Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they discuss the following issues: as we readjust our senses from a less than stellar event filled weekend (Avengers 2, Mayweather fight), is it time that the public demand less hype and more substance from forthcoming pop culture events?; in light of Olympic legend, Bruce Jenner's transgender revelations, a recent NY Times op-ed discusses transgenders matriculating into Womens colleges; Dburt ponders why the PC police seem to be more critical of those that might be considered transracial (shout out to Sammy Sosa); a debate between Pastor Jamal Bryant and FOX' Megyn Kelly over the usage of the word "thug" during the media's reporting of the Baltimore riots affirms that liberals and conservatives both prefer to be right over righteous; are emails ruining the art of writing? (and by extension language and discourse?) ; Harvard economics professor, Dr. Roland Fryer may have cracked the code in closing the achievement gap between minorities and Whites. And lastly, Dburt waxes about Dr. Marc Lamont Hill's recent interview on The Combat Jack podcast (hint: Black Progressives are engineered not unlike like an auto on a Detroit/Japan assembly line). Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
